I don’t understand the idea of making a class based on character movement’s velocity and kill skills to increase his damage, when there are other characters that are easier to use and benefit from passive skills. At this rate, Zane will be destined to be a character hated by the entire community, and will be rejected in multiplayer for his incompetence. He’s my main character and always will be, I only ask that his skills be redesigned and/or re-evaluated to offer a better gaming experience, because killing an enemy or activating a skill and getting a temporary buff is a waste of skill points in my opinion, considering also the difficulty level and the time taken to kill someone. The Barrier skill tree is almost perfect, but skills like Nerves of steel are useless.
Let me be clear: Jack has a well-designed skill tree for his digi-clone, Zero is a perfect assassin, but Zane didn’t take anything from them, he’s still unsuitable. He should have taken a little inspiration from Athena. When I chose Zane I would have expected a skilled man with a sniper rifle, he’s a hitman after all, but I still don’t understand why Fl4k, a beastmaster, is a formidable sniper capable of making himself invisible.
I want to clarify that the special effects of Zane’s legendary CMODs, compared to those of other classes, are not very useful, because the whole class is badly designed.
the kill skills are the only viable way right now though ^^
I’d say everything else is the problem here, and the barrier skilltree is as flawed as the other too.
problem with hitman is that he focuses so much on kill skills that it completely missed the oppurtunity to improve the drone in any way. and that the desing of it is weird, having 6 skills right on the top and then no real choices in the lower half, because palying dirty SUCKS and could easily be just 100% chance and than just adjust the number of shots per level
problem with undercover skilltree is that ALL three first options care about you having better shields… there is no CHOICE here… you just choose how to improve you shield… which is stupid when the “best” build right now uses the rough rider… this could have been forseen, but even if not could’ve been designed with more choices in mind.
the other bigger problem is that this is also the “cryo” tree of the game but basically has nothing reall to do with cryo or freezing.
Brainfreeze in my opinion is soo oddly specific and unnoticable that it is a waste of points for a 5 pointer… could easily be a three pointer that just adds cryo damage to you shots and increases cryo efficency OR adds this weird slow to any shot ( I know it is suppose to give you the option to freeze with any gun… but meh)
best serve cold is a skill with static numbers… and since this is a gearbox game and gearbox can handle static numbers, this skill is a complete waste lategame and does 0 damage late game, not to mention it is SO small that it maybe hit another enemy only every 100 kills anyway.
this again should just add some form of cryo damage/freeze cahnce on top of that…
and yeah… nerves of steal I dont get either… I want to see statistics if every ever has taken this when there is lifesteal right next to it…
and the keystone of this three, at least right now, is completly useless, there is basically no shield in this game that you actually want to have twice… so I have NO idea why they thought this would make people want to use it… honestly the messy break up is the only shield that even has a use on it ^^ and that is a joke within it self…
and doubled agend regarding the clone I wont go into detail here since I already have a whole thread on this topic… but yeah, the clones needs heavy AI reworks.
but for the most part I dont get why all the numbers here are SO LOW, 15% actions skill duration for 5 points? yes it is 30% if you have 2 skills active, but fl4k for example just gets that for 3 points with ANOTHER bonus on top of that! why not just make it double!?
Dnnybrook 19% gun damage on kill one time, while moze gets drown in brass and phalanx doctrine, giving 10% and 20% respectivly that both can STACK 7 times and UNLIMITED times respectively…
Duct tape mod…you just have to read this… 20% CHANCE… for only THE FIRST BULLET… every EIGHT SECONDS… can a skill be MORE specific??? what was happening in testing that they felt these THREE condituions where needed? why not solution 1: 100% the first shot every 8 seconds, solution 2: why not 10% each shot every 8 seconds, solution 3: why not 20% chance on the first shot, period. all these options would give him insentive to use diffrent guns version 1 would just be the stable boring good option. solution 2 would make him use more fast firing guns to get a grenade easy and solution 3 would want him to use low magazin guns like the one pump chump and would by far be the most fun.
like a ghost… so you give me a tree that focuses on having my action skill active ALL the time but then you give me a skill that only works for 8 seconds? and even then is compltly trash? 15% chance to ignore bullets is nice… but just make it, while an action skill is active, or make it like the others where it is a 12% per action skill active thing, THAT I would use…
trick of the light also is sooo specific… and werid… but I HAVE TO use it… becuase it is one of the few sources that actually give us damage…
and as a whole all trees are really lacking on just raw damage increases…
so yeah
As you said, Zane has an (apparent) affinity with cryogenic damage, but he can only slow down his enemies and steal their vital energy whenever possible, which is also complicated / useless against stronger enemies. Brain Freeze would have been suitable if it had the same effect as the slag or perhaps make enemies more vulnerable to crits and Refreshment should convert at least a small portion of cryogenic damage into health. You’re right, the drone’s skill tree is completely focused on kill skills, a wasted opportunity to make him somehow efficient, and the few skills in that tree would have been useful, if passive. The clone, apparently, the only utility that has is to annoy the enemies, but fails miserably. Axton’s sentry-gun manages to kill something at least and can even contaminate enemies, very convenient for killing quickly. I don’t know why Duct Tape was so penalized, the first thing that comes to mind are the performance drops, but Moze can freely spam grenades, so I don’t know.
my bet in house testing zane was overpower to a point so they slim the number down a lot. for me a hitman should be very efficient at killing anytime not after getting a kill. i feel this tree should of had his passives for damage instead of kill skillz. undercover should got some cryo damage amping skills . like double agent tree has shock damage if the enemy not targeting you that to me sound like a undercover skill theme to me thematicly speaking at least
I doubt that Zane will be improved properly, Gearbox at most will only increase the duration of the kill skills by a few seconds.
Zane has a lot of skill problems, Confidence Compentence for example won’t be useful anymore if you use Sonic Boom Infiltrator as CMOD. Without a doubt the most obsolete character of the entire franchise… There are not enough synergies in order to create a decent build, even Rough Rider is useless, since Rise To The Occasion is influenced by the shield and its charge capacity, unless you want to use the CMOD I mentioned earlier, but the situation does not change at all.
what are you uttering. people are destroying mayhem 3 with zane…
I’m at M3 too
zane’s skills synergize across all 3 trees you are just simply lying. Zane will be insanely fluid at level 60 cap. there are about 10 decent builds out already and none play similar… you are just spreading misinformation.
Zane has short-term synergies, but MANY skills are useless from the point of view of many players. I will be neither the first nor the last to complain.
I totally agree with Zane being useless compared to other classes. My siren can solo M3 with no issues. I can melt groups of enemies with few shots from my guns. Been trying to help my brother with a build that competes and there just arent any. The builds ive seen that are working in M3 arent anywhere close to the other classes. I was working on a build with brawler ward and deep dive so he could do increased damage to frozen with melee. However the deep dive face puncher cannot crit and even when an enemy is frozen, it doesnt seem to do any increased damage to them.
His skill trees really dont synergies well at all and are very lackluster. Sure he is fun to run around at top speed but when it only adds an insignificant amount of damage, whats the point? if they reworked annointed items to “on action skill use” or “while action skills are active” instead of on end, it might help buff him(and other builds) to be more viable.
I still think he needs a rework/buff in order to be as viable as other classes. Period.
He is useless, but also boring and frustrating to use, and it’s a shame. Zane has to keep moving to do some damage, he can’t stand still. He has no basic damage, no stack skills like the other classes, there’s one but it’s useless, lol.
There are a few skills I haven’t taken because I feel like they are way too specific or just feel useless but Zane’s not that bad he’s still kinda strong.
He needs to be redesigned properly, and that’s what I expect from Gearbox.
If your brother wants to kill things while standing still his best bet’s a sniper and/or high damage single projectile shotgun build. Jakobs weapons with ricochet are super strong for Zane with Playing Dirty. Actually a better way to put it is basically any weapon with a ricochet is super strong with Playing Dirty. With just a standard Jakobs bolt-action you can kill or freeze three enemies at once.
yeah its true but those weapons work on anyone. My siren has the crossbow and one pump chump and i hit for upwards of 500k using them. Anyone can pick one up and do decent damage. But if i pickup something like that with an element, it hits even harder. Theres nothing for Zane that feels more specific and unique to him. Jakobs-Beastmaster, Torgue-Gunner, and every gun-siren. Zane…
