Advise on class mods and artifacts (relics) for begginers and confused veterans

I see gold and i pick it up! i put it on! and it is shiny.

this is the mistake is see a lot of people make. we are at the point in this game where max amount of skill points you gain from the com is 5. and all of the comes seem to come with random passives.

now i have had about 15 legendary class mods for zane during my play time and i am not using any single one of them. why you might ask, are not legendary mods the best? not quite, first of all they might give very bad or undesirable skill distribution. secondly the passives are most likely not the ones you want.

my advice is to try and focus on the class mods and artifacts that give you great passive boosts instead of niche red text augments for slam damage or melee elemental amplification. for example to focus on:

1.class mod that boosts playing dirty +5
2.class mod that can boost death follows close
3.class mod that boosts synchrnicity +5
4.class mods that actually give good buffs like +30% to gun type damage (it is a huge boost in bl3 standards) reload speed buffs are hard to come by in this game as well as mag size buffs (except for moze) for zane since our kill skills have small boosts (due to the fact that class mod that boosts death follows close exists) reload speed buffs= great dps boost. mag size buffs, while zane gets good amount of mag size 8% per skill point, you can always use more. for example my 10 shot lyuda goes to 18 with skills and relic. as to the passives again look for what you need more over then skills they give, because 99% of class mods are very unimpactful and all the chase around infiltrator class mod is nothing but a joke at this point.
5.artifacts, the story repeats itself here, a lot of golden ones will give you boost to cryo dmg to your melee or rockets on the slide, or cryo ball on the slide… mostly useless. focus down the passive boosts again. if your relic gives you 40% mag size and your class mod gives you 30% damage. no matter what other red text effects are or are not, you will outperform all the legendary or non legendary ones that come with ■■■■■■ passives like all kinds of resistencies or accuracy buffs and other useless stuff.

There are mods that buff death follows close?!

from other characters i have heard they got mid tree cap stone skill point clas mod. i suspect that zane has a class mod that buffs it, it maybe reserved for dlc level cap increase. this theory comes from the fact that his kill skill bonuses are very small numbers per investment but they will become very solid with +1 in death follows close. therefore i suspect gaerbox intentionally made cool hand and violent violence low impact without that. i have myself gotten a com that boosted allmighty orderence so we know that class mods do boost augments and capstone. i see no reason why it would not boost out beloved skill.
