New Start w/ Moze - Good tree or build to put my points into?

Hello,

Like the title says I was wondering if there are any good targets for early game builds for Moze I should consider. My first play through was with Zane and I just picked a tree (SNTL) and dumped points into it and that made the game harder than it needed to be.

Thanks in advance for any direction!

i just made a thread for a Moze build not too long ago. It’s found here.

EDIT: I misspelled thread as threat. facepalm

It’s probably not the best build out there but it’s a good start. I showed two builds in that post and the first one works with just about any gear you can find (Don’t get the second one yet as it required some good incendiary gear). I also specified what order I would get the skills too. I tested the build in Mayhem 3 TVHM and it was able to keep me alive even with unannointed/blue/purple gear. If you don’t like it though, I’m sure there are many other builds that you can work with.

Happy vault hunting. I think you’ll enjoy playing as Moze.

Thanks for the link! Can’t wait to check it out.

Personally I just put points in a lot of the tier 1 skills that boost gun damage and add incendiary damage(most mobs are fleshy particularly in early game)

At around level 20 I decided I wanted to get my explodo in and just went mainly Demolitions with all Torgue weapons. Regenerating grenades that can Crit? Hell yeah!

I guess if you wanted to go the safest route you could go Shield of Ret but just skip her skill that turns health into shields.

Whatever you decide, just make sure your having fun with your playstyles!

Here is what I’m running so far:

Edit: Using homing rocket pad and singularity grenades on Bear.

Went down bottomless mags until capstone, switched to demolition for a bit until I had enough gear to feel comfortable with the shield tree. They’re all pretty fun in their own way and it’s easy to respec and try finding what you like the best.

Shield tree is amazing for leveling. You get great defensive buffs and a ton of gun damage that doesn’t require any specific weapon type, so you can use whatever you stumble across as you progress.

For leveling you can either focus on Iron Bear (3/3 Deadlines in the blue tree first), because Moze’s action skill is strongest at low levels, or go into the Shield tree.

You can, of course, level with anything, but going straight into the blue or green trees will leave your defensive options very limited. With the shield tree my max shield was high enough to absorb a lot of burst damage boss attacks and then regen before they hit me again, making a number of fights quite a bit safer than a regular health/shield split.

Moze can be difficult at first when it comes to selecting the proper skills. Iron bear is vital during the main storyline, but for endgame he is unfortunately only good for one thing: instant shelter befor death so shields can regen. A few other things to keep in mind IMO…you will unveil many awesome guns while playing BL3. Most of them dont dish out splash dmg. The term, other than the few obvious qualifications, is still vague to me since I am relatively new to the franchise. I have found Moze to play the most enjoyable during endgame with builds that focus on Shields of Retribution (red tree) and Bottomless Mags (green tree). I put zero skill pts into iron bear. I have class mods and artifacts that add considerable base dmg to specific weapon types i.e. smg, AR, shotguns, etc. So i can adapt to Mayhem modifiers as needed. I still need the deathless artifact and bloodletter class mod, which I have been farming for days to find but still no luck. Today I finally got the flakka shotgun to drop so that was awesome… but my advice is roll with the playstyle you love. Respec as needed to tweak moze for the best gear you have found so far. Rinse and repeat until you have all the best gear that suits your playstyle. I have 8/5 on phalanx doctrine with my class mod bc i like to shred at the proving grounds and it stacks indefinately. Once I am on a roll there is no stopping her. Dont become obsessed with someone elses opinion… just keep rolling with the best stuff you get along the way and prepare to part ways with iron bear for endgame farming on Mayhem.

So as I play Moze (and I imagine it’s the same for the others?), she can swap out Iron Bear’s armaments on the fly (though only ones unlocked with one’s ‘build’ will be available), correct?

I’m just not used to this paradigm (from BL1, 2, and TPS: build is what it is unless respec). Like if I’m built for fire damage with Salamander and an armored guy comes up, I can grab Chemical Warfare in the field and be good to go?

All characters can swap around their action skill and augments (from what is available) on the fly. I believe the skill needs to be off cooldown (or not in use, at the very least).

It is quite different from past games, but it’s a nice addition.

Auto Bear can play the game for you in the beginning. Very fun to see

It’s stationary though, like a turret. But by exiting early you refund most of the cooldown, and can redeploy
