Typhon dead drops don't reset in TVHM?

So apparently Typhon’s dead drops throughout the game can only be opened once per character and not per playthrough? Is this intentional or a bug? Because if it’s intentional, it’s dumb. That means there is no incentive to collect the echo logs on playthrough 1.
This has me worried that the giant cube puzzle is also not reset on a new playthrough

If true, that SUCKS.

I mean, it’s not worth the effort for the loot I recon. Still best to do them on normal for the loot or on TVHM for the completion. I liked it becauseI’m a bit of a completionist and it meant that I didn’t have to do them all two times for each character.

@bramdeconinck none were difficult to unlock or find the logs for and I got 2-4 pinks and blues and decent green gear out of each one so far (just finished Promethea and am about to fly to Athenas). I personally would have no problem getting them every playthrough for every character I do (still on first playthrough with first character).

It’s not difficult, it just takes time. The loot you get from them by the time you reach level 50 is far less than you’d get from killing a few bosses in quick succession. So it’s best to just do them on your first playthrough if you need some gear upgrades or on your second for completion sake.

Level 50 is 1-2 weeks away, if not 3.

Then I’ll be starting a new character.

It still seems like a poor design choice to make the chests one use per character. TVHM is supposed to reset everything, been that way every game, but if I knew things like this were going to be excluded from that rule this time around, I wouldn’t have ever opened them to begin with.

The chest falls into the challenge section - no other challenge resets between Normal and TVHM.

There is no point to them in TVHM with Mayhem. Going into any spot of farm yield way more loots

Can someone confirm if this is the same for the Radio’s in TVHM? I completed them on normal but moxxi gave me a character skin for the wrong character.

Chowder, yeah all the challenge stuff is kept in both playthroughs.

I’m actually happy with the change overall, as these maps are generally pretty huge, and the challenges (specifically the ones that require platforming) can be frustrating. I’m happy that everything I achieved in PT1 is still done in TVHM. Though, to make everyone happy, I do think it would be nice for them to add a button next to Reset Story Missions for Reset Story Missions and Challenges.

I mean I would be happy if they just had the chests unopened when I went into the new playthrough. They don’t have to reset challenge progress but it’s just odd to make the chest a one time ever reward.

none of my crew challenges reset when I started TVHM.

I did select to skip the intro though. That might have something to do with it.

Well, they did make it possible to have alternate characters open up Manufacturer mail. My level 4 gunner was opening up Maliwan mail and getting awarded level 45 weapons.
Bizarre design choices abound…
