Anyone tried Infusion Jacobs Amara?

I was thinking of trying this.
Imagine One Punch Chump with Infusion and the skills for reload speed.
Anyone tried it? Is it good?

Go for it and try it, re-spec is pretty cheap. Could work out, and if it works out for you then that is what matters!

Sounds like it could be a fun play style for sure! Let us know how it turns out!

I have definitely been thinking of doing this. Give me a few days to play around with it and I’ll come up with something. I already have many of the guns i would want.

I got Infusion for free with 2 points on a class mod for her and most of my better guns for her all the way up to level 47 have been good Jakobs drops. I haven’t tried with full or over-capped Infusion, but just having even the small percentage active is enough to proc DoTs on enemies still takes advantage of the high base damage.

Not sure if you meant this, but you still have to put one point in the skill to get any bonus points from a class mod. So, it can’t be “completely free”

If you look in the skill tree, it will show the +2 from that mod (blue border), but if the main, outer border of that skill is still white, then it isn’t active. No class mod can give you free skills, just free bonus points for active skills

In Bl3 they changed it. You don’t need points allocated anymore, so you do actually get free skills from them!

I don’t know…I did test it with the Jab cross, and it didn’t work at all–skill didn’t appear as active.

The skills in the tree still have different colors depending on whether or not you’ve invested points in them, and if a bonus is applied via COM, so I’ve not seen any real evidence that this has been changed.

But I’ll go back and look at it, maybe I missed it.

Literally just slapped on the class mod, started firing a random Jakobs pistol and was getting orange damage numbers and DoTs on enemies with Soulfire on. So if they didn’t intend us to get free skills with them now, that’s a major bug all around. I have noticed you need to at least be in that active tier level though. Getting Wrath on a class mod when you aren’t even specced into the Mystical Assault tree as a whole won’t do anything for you.

I’ve been using a legendary com I got back on athenas for many levels now that gives me a bunch of skills in MA and I’ve been having all of them activate with no investment at all into the tree(Remnant, for example, still procs on every kill for me).

It has been changed from BL2 but you need to have earned that row in the skill tree first i.e. if the free skill is on the second row of the skill tree, you need 5 points in the first row for it to work. You don’t need to put any points into the skill itself.

I actually tested this with Jab Cross myself, and I did get it to work. Every time I melee’d an enemy, I got the icon under my XP bar.

Skill works even if not unlocked and you don’t have to place points in that row either don’t know where this misinformation comes from

If you think Infusion is wild, wait until you see it with forceful expression. Hahaha.

41 on Amara, so far. Leaning heavily on Jakobs shotguns to level in proving grounds. I picked up Forceful Expression at 40, and Infusion 5/5 was doing work for me before that. Still, adding FE was dramatic. I’m looking forward to experimenting with builds at 50.

Out of curiosity, how much damage are these dots doing, relative to the weapon bullet damage?

Most elemental guns come with the exact stats, like “:fire: 350 dmg/s, 17% chance”, but when Amara infuses her own weapon, without points in Tempest/Anima, how much is the status damage? I have a feeling this could push Infusion Amara’s toward a certain weapon type, depending on how she grabs status damage…whether it’s by bullet, by rating, affected by count, etc.

I’d have to check the numbers, but even on the minimum end of just 2 points from a class mod on a Jakobs pistol with Tempest and Anima I was dealing enough damage to have enemies on-level and under dying from the sustained DoTs. Though one complaint now is that its overwriting any existing elemental DoT from the weapon used with her Action Skill Element and being weaker as a result.
