I’ve been doing my best to talk to people about raid boss tips, grinding gear, and looking for friends to play with. I just started recently getting back into this lovely game. It’s been a hassle though, i’ve tried matchmaking the trade forums and such but people just don’t seem to be that friendly or respond to me. Kinda a punch in the gut because I remember this community being freaking awesome and meeting very helpful people. Sorry for the rant, i know i am on last gen but i have yet to find a real good reason to upgrade quite yet. What am i doing wrong or missing here?
You’re not doing anything wrong; there just aren’t as many people playing on 360 & PS3 as there used to be, and some of the regulars on the old forums never came over to the new ones. There are, however, still active members/players, and I’ve connected with quite a few the last few weeks. Sometimes it’s just a matter of timing.
TPS and Tales From the Borderlands came out, so that’s kind of divided the attention between players and partly why you wont find as many online. Though the Handsome Collection came out, so that should be helping.
For the forums, they’re still a little new and not everyone moved over, I’m guessing a lot abondoned ship.
Uuuuh, I can give you tips for raid bosses. For loot, my answer is usually play the game but the Torgue DLC is pretty good weapons and are readily available (especially by lvl 50). Hell, the DLC’s in general are full of good unique weapons.
Terramorphous: Nothing really special here. Just keep moving. He can hit hard if you are unprepared and has a decent amount of health. Destroying tentacles drops ammo and health and can activate kill skills. Bee shield is still a great help, though if you take damage (and hence the shield is not fully charged), Terry occasionally sends out tremors which do 0 damage, but prevent shields from recharging.
Hyperius: You have about 5 seconds to attack him before he summons his Loader minions. Once they are summoned, they will provide Hyperius with a reflector shield via yellow arcs connected to them. The shield is immune to MOST damage, so it’s best to avoid shooting it altogether. By damaging the minions, they will put the shield on themselves. If all 4 minions do this, the shield on Hyperius will drop. Remember, ALL FOUR have to do so at the same time (or be killed) to drop the shield. When shielding themselves, you get 30 seconds to unload on Hyperius. Hyperius occasionally releases novas, these novas do a lot of damage and are unavoidable except in one part of the arena, so you need a way to heal yourself. Once he is low on health, he has a rather regular attack pattern. Nova, jump strike, rockets, jump strike, nova…At this point you should keep moving and after you hear the thud from him landing, turn around and shoot. Just make sure not get hit by a jump strike (start running as soon as you see he start) because unless you are a super tank, it will usually mean death. This fight is much easier with 2 people than solo.
Will add tips for the other raid bosses in subsequent posts so as to not make this one too long.
What, you lookin’ for some people to just pay with? I’m on 360 if’n you’re there.
Pyro Pete: This guy has got a shitload of health, so make sure your ammo capacities are ready for that. There are timed Hyperion ammo crates in the arena, but since they are timed it is not a super reliable source for ammo.
Much like Hyperius’ minions and shields, there is a certain fight mechanic you have to be ready for with Pyro Pete. Though for most of the fight, Pyro Pete will chase you and try to hit you with his flamethrowers, what you really need to be prepared for are his novas. They will put a heavy fire (and depending on which phase) AND corrosive DOT on you. This should be washed off IMMEDIATELY. This can be done so by turning the valves to release water and walking through said water. However, doing so will release either spiderants or rats which will increase in level every time you do so. I suggest only releasing spiderants (when you enter the arena, it’s the valve on your right, right next to the ammo crate and to the right of the raid post). even at their highest level, spiderants are fairly weak and move in predictable patterns and are easy to avoid. The rats will kill you. So as soon as you see him pounding the ground, run for the spiderants valve. Other than that, he’s just got a ton of health and is resistant to fire while being a fleshy enemy, so have a good shock, explosive or non-elemental weapon ready.
If you are playing as Krieg and want to be cheap/see something totally awesome, I suggest looking for videos on how to use Bloodsplosion to do so.
Master Gee: Has a unique fight mechanic in that he will be totally immune to damage for the first part of the fight; except for acid pools. Acid pools are created by the worms that spawn in his arena. Once dead, the worms create a small pool of acid which bubbles at the center. If left unabsorbed, the pool spreads and covers the arena, which will deal constant damage to you. Gee will usually run after you and try to melee, so lead him over the centers of the pool (run directly at the center, jump over the middle). He will occasionally switch to his rocket launcher, this thing packs a huge punch, do not get hit by it. Once he absorbs the acid pools, his shield will slowly crumble. Once his shield is down, you can damage him normally. Worms and acid pools will still be a concern, and to avoid taking extra damage yourself, continue leading him through the pools (this lasts almost the entire fight). Once he’s down to about 1/3 health, he drops a purple bubble that greatly increases health regen so stand inside it, though this wont give you much room to move and you’ll be in there with The Boss himself.
In some cases, this might be easier solo as if anyone in your team is not aware of how to fight him, they’ll likely be the one causing the room to flood with acid. If playing as Gaige, avoid using DT as if Gee targets DT instead of following a player, he’s not absorbing the acid. Axton’s sentry gun is similar, though since it is stationary and can be deployed at a precise spot, could actually get Gee to absorb a pool if placed properly.
Dexidious: My first advice would be don’t even bother. It’s going to take almost 100 eridium to summon him while running around the largest map and the fight is boring as hell. Once summoned, he really only takes damage from the pustules on his body, which can be hard to hit as the Swamp Crawler towers above you. You can make use of the vehicles in the area for extra protection or to conserve weapon ammo, though this will take awhile. Use the terrain to avoid some of his attacks.
Voracidous: In my opinion, the hardest fight. If playing in co-op, you can tell who Voracidous is going to target by whom his tail is pointed at. A little bit after the fight starts, Voracidous will be joined by Chief Nagatu. The chief has a MASSIVE shield which he will transfer to Voracidous after a certain amount of time. Either kill Voracidous before this happens, or be ready to fight the chief (both are difficult). Voracidous fights with corrosive novas and behaves similar to that of a rabid stalker. Definitely easier in co-op.
Krit you rock if you had a ps3 I’d request to play with you, i can solo terra and just did pyro peat! As level 55 maya. Also beat the dragons but got kicked when we beat him. Another reason i’ve lost a lot of hope. Any tips for farming for azure wave the siren skin or rare skins in general? Thanks so much for these tips guys!
So much spoiler coming from kritchie
There is a warning for such in this forums eye think.
I know that.
But the Thread opener should leave a hint in the headline because here are really massive spoilers or Maybe should Rename the thread^^
You got it!
To be fair, it is under the spoiler thread in the forums and it’s not like it ruins the game story wise
Unfortunately I’m on PC (apparently I’m the weirdo as very few people on this forum are on PC). As for the kicking, there’s not much you can do about that other than play solo or make friends.
Course, the host who kicked you after the dragons is kind of a dumbass (and a dick for kicking). If you beat the dragons once, you guys could have easily beaten them again. Since they have a 100% drop rate for a seraph, you guys could have gotten a variety of pink stuff. Not to mention the total cost of opening all those chests for 1 person exceeds the eridium you got from the fight and you’d actually come out ahead if split among 4 people.
If I can add my own tips for Hyperious: learn to circle strafe and keep moving once the minions are gone. If you don’t have a decent corrosive RL the method I used (using Maya) was to PL the minions, then toss in my Sticky Longbow Bonus Package (with other characters a corrosive singularity might work as well). Also, since there isn’t any way to refill ammo, you might want to start the fight with an ammo relic of your main weapon and then switch to an elemental relic once the total ammo drops back to its normal range…
might be because the new forums are still an unmitigated visual mess. coupled with the other crappy ux elements on mobile, i know a few who won’t touch the new forums. you can’t find bunk, and discuss navigation is a joke.
I guess, but it’s still the forums and I expected atleast some people to still use them. I dunno. Still no luck finding people to trade/ play with.
Krit I honestly did not know it was a garenteed seraph drop! no wonder they kicked me. Hard to trust people i guess but considering i siren rev’d left and right… Nope i got the boot to my bum.
i still play ps3 on and off. i’m in pst timezone, but play a little with morning coffee.
What system are you on?
Ps3
I do not know if it is kosher to mention this on the official forums but there is an amazing facebook group that I have always found incredibly helpful and willing to coop. It has also suffered from people moving on to other games but there are still many who stay involved. You might give that a try if you are on facebook.
best of luck
H
Sorry- 360 here…
