I’m seeing lots of YouTube vids going in all sorts of directions and being labeled as “best build”.
What are you guys thoughts? I’m finding Zane overall to be extremely mediocre as it seems he’s very gear dependent (and, well, I dont have loads of time to grind for gear) and on top of that, my current build is probably just junk.
Please help. I want to get the most out of Zane but starting to wish I spent the time getting another vault hunter to 50 as it feels like Gearbox gave Zane the short end of a lot of things. I haven’t found any builds that he really shines at doing anything better (or even as good as for that matter) than some of the other classes.
I have seen two builds that look like they will work out to be meta-ish.
First is kill skills. Its exactly what it sounds like and I bet as soon as you read it all the relevant talents came to the front of your mind. The key is you can use the early detonation augment on the clone to give it a shorter cooldown. When you do this it only has around a 5-7 second cooldown. So you can maintain your kill skills even when not getting kills. Pick a gun you can easily use while moving and zip around ride the movespeed which Zane gets a lot of. Ryan Central won a tourney for about $2000 using this build according to a video he released recently.
The second is the Iceman build which you can see on the forum here. The write up is pretty long but the thing you are probably concerned about, does it work on bosses, is confirmed. Yes, it does. The status effect will proc on them and trigger CCC for you though the boss keeps moving normally. The damage isn’t as high but the reliable freezing makes up for it by ensuring easy crits on enemies that move their weak point around a lot.
I’m using this build with my level 50 Zane, I tried making a couple of build and it’s by far the best build I tried. It’s insanely powerful against literally any enemy that isn’t a boss but I still don’t have any problem solo killing bosses neither with it. It uses drone and shield. Use a cryo grenade mod for best result and a high capacity shield.
I wouldn’t run a build similar to that without Synchronicity. +1 Salvation is unnecesary (go for a greater number like 3+ or don’t go for it at all). I don’t like good missfortune either if your plan is to constantly reset your CDs.
