How to apply updates?

yeah… so, as far as i can tell, we only received our first patch/update like 2days ago. however, i have been getting a notice while in-game to exit to the main menu to do an update. and i have been getting this notice since before 2days ago.

so, like… what exactly do i do? exactly how long should i wait? an hour? i already waited at least 20minutes one time before.

every game session it is the same. i get to playing and when accessing the pause menu, it tells me there is an update.

well… i can’t see a version number anywhere. and i don’t see any progress for anything either. exactly what do we do? when do the update nags stop?

don’t get me wrong… updates are great, but i receive this notice each and every game session. surely they aren’t pushing updates multiple times a day every day… right? what gives? anyone???

so, exactly how to apply the updates? i still get the same message everyday. what gives? when does the update actually work? when do i stop updating? anyone?

It’s a hotfix, not a patch. This means it’s server side and only applies if you’re connected to the internet on the home screen.

Check out the thread: Borderlands 3 Hot Fixes [Updated 9/19/2019]

but i keep getting the notification every gameplay session and everyday. how to fix?

anyone? how do i get these notifications to stop showing? or how do i get the update to actually apply? it is starting to get annoying. :frowning:

I’m having the same problem. I click on yes but there’s nowhere I can see to apply any update.

Yes, it’s VERY annoying!

VERY VERY annoying!!

still looking for a solution to this. thank you!

Don’t insta-click continue. You need to stay ob the main menu for a minute or two to give the hotfix a chance to sneak into your current online session. Unfortunately hotfixes have been like this in every BL game. However I do hope they add a symbol or something to the main screen that only shows up once the hotfix is active.

ah. i don’t play multiplayer online. so maybe the hotfix doesn’t apply to me?

personally… this never happened in any of the previous Borderlands titles. i have never seen any such message before.

either way, i haven’t played the game for 3 or 4 days because of this issue. hopefully they fix it. it is very annoying. and i have tried waiting at the main menu for up to an hour, but the message just shows up again when playing.

is this message even for real? are legit getting hundreds of ‘hotfixes’? it just doesn’t make sense to me. they really really need to add a better way to apply these so-called ‘hotfixes’ and letting us know they are actually applied. or maybe they have to applied every game session and that is normal?

i have no clue… i just want the messages to stop pestering me.

I see the same thing on Xbox, I jump back to the dashboard and check my game updates, nothing. Assume like others are saying something is happening in the background. I just keep playing and eventually the message goes away. It would be nice to get a response from Gearbox on it though.

Perhaps we are now getting hotfixes and patches daily :joy:

dont worry, just keep in the home screen for 1 minute or 2. not the title screen the main menu which you click continue, normally i go toilet and come back and its done. not saying your wrong but this is a problem. i agree with the above comment about gearbox adding in somesort of icon to let you know its done maybe a x if it hasnt applied then a green tick if it has?

heyo. sorry for being late posting back here. i just wanted to say a huge thank you for implementing the main menu notice to see when hotfixes are applied. super useful! thank you!

Closed since resolved

Note that the date of the currently applied hotfix also shows in the first item in the news panel at the bottom left of the main menu.
