Protocol 1.Y vs. Protocol 1.X

I have a Maliwan “Soleki Protocol” sniper rifle and the regular/alternate firing mode says: Protocol 1.X and Protocol 1.Y

The only diiference I can see is that there a some lights on the gun that turn on when set on 1.Y

I see no other difference. Both modes let me charge shots. Both seem to do electrical dmg. So, what is the difference?

X is a horizontal split after ricochet. Y is a vertical split after ricochet.
