Anointed Effects List (WIP)

Hi guys!

With the release of BL3, and having been a forum lurker/user for a fair few years, I figured I should do my part and get some stuff going.

Anyway, I’m looking to put together a list of Anointed Gear effects, that may help new players to the game understand what to look for, what synergises well with their builds and all that jazz.

This will be properly formatted once I’m on my PC (on mobile at the moment so anything added will just be chucked in).

If you’re going to add to this with Anointed weapons/shields/anything, please make sure you clearly state WHICH CHARACTER RECEIVES THE ANOINTED BUFF (if any) otherwise we could have Beastmaster gear that isn’t actually Beastmaster gear.

Ok, so I wanted to put together a list of Anointed gear and weapons, complete with effects and which character benefits from them.

This is a WIP, and will be updated as and when I find them, or someone on the thread finds them.

INTRODUCTION: What is this “Anointed” stuff?

Anointed refers to certain effects on items that are indicated with the “Anointed X” title on the item card. The “X”, for the purpose of this thread, indicates what character the effect specifically affects. This can range from increased Damage after using certain Action Skills, to changing the next 2 magazines you put into the next Fanatic’s face to Shock damage. Sometimes, you may come across an Anointed item that isn’t tied to a certain class. These effects will be listed as Non-Class Specific.

I’m not sure whether certain effects are exclusive to certain items, but from what I’ve seen, you can have any effect on any bit of gear you find. This may or may not be true, and maybe I can find this out as I continue.

You can find Anointed gear almost anywhere a bit of gear can pop out of (toilets, ammo boxes, a Skag’s arse), but you can also specifically purchase these special items (Anointed stuff, not a Skag’s arse) from the vending machine by Crazy Earl.

I expect this list to get longer as people find more and more, as well as maybe DLC effects that may be added in the future.

Without further ado, let’s jump in.


BEASTMASTER SPECIFIC:

(WEAPON) While Gamma Burst is active, gain 65% bonus Radiation damage.

(WEAPON) Grants an extra charge of Rakk Attack!

(WEAPON) After using Attack Command, gain 30% Lifesteal for a short time.



GUNNER SPECIFIC:

(WEAPON) After exiting Iron Bear, kills increase Iron Bear’s cool down rate by 30%.



OPERATIVE - DIGI-CLONE:

Active - Regenerates 12% of Magazine per sec (WEAPON)

Active - Replenishes 3% of health per sec (SHIELD)

Swapping with digi-clone increases weapon damage by 75% for a short period (WEAPON)

Swapping place with Digi-Clone reloads ammo (WEAPON)

OPERATIVE - SNTNL:

Active - Fire rate increased by 9% and reload speed increased by 23% (WEAPON)

Active - Gain 50% of damage as bonus cryo damage (WEAPON)

Active - movement speed increased by 15% (SHIELD)


OPERATIVE - BARRIER:

Deployed - instantly start recharging your shields (SHIELD)

Active - Status effect chance increased by 50% (WEAPON)

Active - Accuracy increased by 60% and Critical Hit Damage increased by 30% (WEAPON)


OPERATIVE - GRENADE:

Action Skill Start - Replenish 1 grenade



NON CLASS-SPECIFIC

(SHIELD) Action Skill End - Action skill cooldown rate increased by 20% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - The next 2 magazines will have 50% additional bonus RANDOM ELEMENT damage.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Fire rate increased by 11% and reload speed 26%.

(SHIELD, WEAPON) Action Skill End - Melee damage increased by 100% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Critical damage increased by 25% for a short period.

(SHIELD) Action Skill End - Regenerate 5% health per sec for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Gain 15% health steal for a short period.

(SHIELD) Action Skill End - Movement speed increased by 5% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Weapon damage increased by 100% for a short period.

(SHIELD) Action Skill End - Damage reduced by 13% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - 125% Weapon damage to Badass, Named, and Boss enemies for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Splash damage increased by 125% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Projectile speed increased 100% for a short period.

(WEAPON) Action Skill End - Weapon Accuracy and Handling greatly increased for a short period.

(SHIELD) Action Skill End - 30% of all damage taken is returned to the attacker for a short period.

Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for. I’ll add it to the post when I get home (currently at work :sob::joy:)

Do anointed work by being your active weapon or can it be any of the 4 equipped? Can’t find this answer elsewhere.

Semi off-topic, but… how do I know my annointed effect has procced? I have a Torgue shotgun that with the SNTNL increased fire rate proc, but when I use it, there’s no indication anywhere that it procced. I just assume it’s working, but it would be nice if they got a proc icon being shown…

@Popepollack I’m not actually sure on that. I’d assume it was only your active weapon. If anyone else knows though then jump in!

@Caliburn134 there’s no indication that I can see, this needs to maybe come up as a special icon on the XP bar (where the kill skills and that are).

I’ve pretty much just repeated what you said haha! But you’re right, though.

On beastmaster, there also When fade away is active, handling and accuracy is increased

On Siren, if I remember correctly, does more damage after slam(It’s like 300% if I remember correctly)

They only work for the gun that have the ability, the active weapon only.

Shield
Siren only (I think it’s siren only. forgot)
During action skill trigger novas (based on your selected elemental damage I think)

Beastmaster
(WEAPON) After using Rakk Attack!, enemy takes 100% more damage
Gunner
(WEAPON) After exiting Iron Bear, next 2 magazines deal 40% bonus RANDOM ELEMENT damage

The hotfix that releases today changes this from 75% to 130% (hooray!)

The Rakk thing is a lot too strong and will be nerfed

Weapon
After switching places with your digi-clone do increased damage by 130% for a short time. (hotfix 10/10/2019 changed it from 75% to 130%)

edit: oops it’s 130 not 150
edit 2: also sorry about not seeing the post above who posted it before me. I blame the search box for not showing it to me.

It changed it to 130%, not 150%.

They literally just buffed it from 50% to 100% in this hotfix. Why would they nerf it? It’s nowhere near as powerful as Amara’s 300% weapon damage annointments. And besides, it only affects the enemy the Rakk hits, not all enemies in the area.

Rakk tend to split target when there is a few that are close. Also Rakk is a skill made to be spammed.

There is a nice list over at the borderlands fandom wiki. I didn’t start it but i’ve been adding and updating it. Also I’ve been adding new Anointed Effects that were added with maliwan takedown patch(marked with * ).
Feel free to add and/or make corrections.
The new effects are alot of While Airborne, & While Sliding. There are also at least one kill skill-like anointed effect that stacks. and at least one consecutive hits anointed effect. I found what i think is a new Moze effect( I Havent seen it before the patch, correct me if im Wrong):

(WEAPON) After Exiting Iron Bear - Does not consume ammo for 5 seconds

I’ve seen a few with ‘status effect chance increased by X’ and/or increased status effect damage/duration on weapons that don’t have status effects. They’re not class specific so I’m wondering if they apply to any relevant class ability. Or is the anointment mechanic just (gasp) less than perfect?
