I seem to remember one of you guys saying recently how good the Shield of Ages is.
What’s so special about it?
I just got mine as the quest reward, doesn’t seem spectacular.
From what I’ve seen, it’s a Hyperion shield that behaves like a Pangolin shield.
Could you be a tad bit more specific?
It’s good.
That’s all.
It’s got great stats for a low health penalty.
There is nothing “special” about it other than that.

I had my first one level 54 with Nisha, and I kept it till level 60 or even more iirc, because the stats where just amazing compared to the same level Pangolin shields !
It’s optimal with shield tanking skills because it has a massive capacity and most skills are percent based so you recharge a greater level of shield capacity relative to other shields.

Yeah, with Nisha it’s amazing, with Law, Discipline and Bottled Courage on a Celestial Lawbringer COM (+45% shield capacity, -45% shield recharge delay with 30 order stacks and replenish super fast during Showdown with bottled courage !)
I think it’s hyperion too iirc which is why some people love it with red/green thick minion jack builds.
Even blue builds with access to winning
That is true, but as a user and enjoyer of winning, I say novas are still better with blue builds.
It is a massive turtle shield that beats the Fabled Tortoise without the speed reduction. Also, it’s Hyperion which makes it better for a shotgun based Jack than a Bulwark or Amp shield
Very high capacity. Pair this with a data scrubber and spec into shield buffs and you should be able to tank most anything.
It’s like the Tortoise shield, but with a low HP penalty, no movement speed penalty.
Really high capacity.
My Wilhelm has it at ~ 267k capacity.
Nisha is very effective at it, too.
And it’s way easier to get than the Tortoise.
put it on aurelia and you never go back in to FFYL again
it is plain awesome for Glass Cannon mutator rounds. extreme shield buff, health Penalty from the modifier.
It has THE highest capacity in the game
It puts the Fabled Tortoise to shame.
I need to get one of these for my Level 70 Athena (her build is all based around shield capacity and keeping it (and the Aspis) up as much as possible. Unfortunately, that would require me to reset the entire playthrough, which I don’t feel like doing. I’ll probably eventually get it on another character and pass it along.
