What is the symbolism when shadow trap explodes does it mean shadow trap actually revives claptrap?

I think he was being quite serious when he said that he was Claptrap’s only friend.

He was.

He knew Jack would destroy him.

He knew that he’d always remain abused.

Besides, he was the one who would guide Claptrap’s Vaulthunter.EXE.

Seemed to me that Shadow Trap transferred (downloaded?) himself into Claptrap, i.e. – our beloved misfit BL2 Claptrap unit IS Shadow Trap (a bit downgraded).

Claptrap in BL 2 sure is not Shadowtrap.

That’s just your view, mine’s different. I mean, last scene: something’s happening to Shadow Trap (explodes?), he kinda points and, next moment, scene fades into the blinking, reviving eye of the Claptrap.

Yeah, but in BL 2, Claptrap feels like Claptrap. Not Shadowtrap. Shadowtrap is very serious while Claptrap is claptrap.

That’s why I say he is (could be) the ‘downgraded’ Shadow Trap; but, in any case they no doubt share some programming, right!

Well, Shadowtrap = Vaulthunter.EXE. But he was captured before he could guide it. That’s why VH.EXE is bad and is also why Shadowtrap begins his sentences with “Analyzing
”.

I thought of Shadow trap as claptrap’s dark side the side that wanted retribution against his mean “friends”. So the idea that his death somehow revived him seems odd to me.

No no no.

Shadowtrap IS Vaulthunter.EXE.

The cutscene that plays during the “Insertion Shard” proves that.

BUT, he was captured in mere cycles in his life.

And he found out the hate against Claptrap. And then he wishes to save Clappy. But Clappy instead chooses to save his “friends”.

“WHY NOT BETRAY THESE ■■■■■■■■?”

“Because
 because they’re my friends!”

After the ending, when Jack says he’ll wipe out the Claptrap family, he says:

“But
 but
 I saved you all!”

When you defeat Shadow Trap he is not destroyed but only damaged, and because his program is based on Clap Trap but also separate that is how he is able to reboot Clap Trap and why Clap Trap is so willing in BL2 to fight against Jack. Shadow Trap may have lost most of his combat code, but sense the story is being told after the events of BL2 we may see a new Vaulthunter.exe in BL3. And maybe even a Clap Trap MK2 for every vault hunter, or even a New Robo Revolution when someone accidentally lets Shadow Trap have his own body.

The dlc takes place as a simulation -in- claptrap’s mind.

Shadow trap is a repressed -aspect- of claptrap and likely remains so (aka he didn’t die).

Shadow is the only shred of fight in clappy.

who does claptap save? merging/accepting shadow as his main aspect would still end in defeat for clappotrap

jack modded clap. saying the mod is distinct from the base unit in toto doesn’t make sense. shadow is only walled off within claptrap.

He saves Jack, and the VHs.

If Clappy integrated with Shadowtrap, then Claptrap would’ve been Shadowtrap, and the VHs would have been dead.

Then Clappy would’ve accessed the H source and suck the air from Helios and killed everyone up there. Then he’d be leader of Hyperion and annex Pandora, making a new unstoppable robolution.

The only thing that makes sense to me is perhaps claptrap “let go” of his repressed thoughts and that gave him the extra spark to survive.
