[Build] Darth Wilhelm: May the Schwartz be with You

This is a FUN build for Wilhelm that I came across when trying to optimize Wilhelm’s Fire Rate bonuses.

So, without further ado, I present to you…

#Darth Wilhelm: Destroyer of Worlds…err…Moon

that’s no moon…

The Idea behind this spec is to reach a Fire Rate of 30 (or 15 in some cases) with some devastating Laser Weaponry. Why 30? It has something to do with Fire Rate and how it works with the Game Engine and Frame Rate. The important thing to take away is that there are 2 important Fire Rates to hit: 30 and 15.

Before We Look at the Gear In detail. Let me talk about the most Important aspect of this build: Fire Rate.

Wilhelm has 3 Fire Rate Skills, all of which are fairly reliable to activate. they are as follows:
Overcharge (+75% on Action Skill for 10s)
Suppression (+6%/Level on Kill [30% at 5/5])
Emergency Response (+6%/Level on Shield Break for 15s [30% at 5/5])

These conditions are actually fairly easy to line up together, specifically because ER lasts so long.

Now, My Ultimate Goal is to Hit 30 FR with Maliwan Beam Lasers, which have a Base FR of 10.2. Now we maff:

Required FR Bonus = Desired FR/Base FR - 1
= 30/10.2 - 1 = 1.94112

Essentially, this means that we need at least +195% FIre Rate to have our Death Star Laser. The problem is that we only got +135%. So, where do we get the other 60%? Well we potentially have two options:

  • Option 1 (Untested): Blaster COM + Strafing Run Oz Kit.
    IF the Strafing Run has a FR boost high enough (I’m Looking for ~36/37% at level 70) We’re able to hit the FR we want without giving up too much Damage. We would also get a huge boost to Mag Size, Reload Speed, and Accuracy so our Death Beam is sustainable with Overcharge.

  • Option 2 (Guaranteed to Work): High Tech Projector COM and a Laser Duality (in Vacuum) / Strafing Run (in Atmosphere)
    This COM comes with the same 23% FR buff as the Blaster, but it also boosts ER, allowing us to take as many points as we need to get our desired FR (We only NEED 6/5, but going higher will lower the minimum FR to hit 30 [We can realistically go to 9/5, meaning that we can make any laser with 9.2+ FR, or any non laser 10.1+ FR will hit 30]). This COM also caters heavy to a Shield based Overcharge spam build where you shut down W&S after OC is activated to get the most out of Heatsinks and get OC up ASAP.

There’s a fairly short list of Lasers that get launched into God Mode with this build, so I’ll list them here:
Maliwan Beams (AZ, Rosie, Viber, Basic Purples)
Other Beams (Notably Vandergraffen)
ZX-1

Other Notable weapons that hit 30 with this build:
most Anarchists (I think you can fk it up with a Dva Anarchist with a Jakobs Grip)
Vladof ARs
most Miniguns
Fast Talker (Doesn’t Need Anything extra to hit 30, just the skills)
Dahl Pistols
LIke Jakobs Anything, but they don’t really count now do they

This build can also ramp almost anything else to 15 with ease.

The other gear is arguably less important, but if you’re using the Projector I would suggest either the Bulwark for more DMG and more Ammo Regen or something that really synergizes with a 10/5 Heatsinks.

Welp, that’s the gist of my build. It’s mostly gimmicky, but can crank out some scary DPS with the AZ and Rosie, especially if you can hit your shots consistently at 30 FR. Let me know if you guys have fun with it.

where did you get that SICK head skin?

The Head is from the Tales from the Borderlands Season Pass, the skin, it’s called Functionality and it’s in the base game

Update, I made it better, cuz I forgot I wasn’t locked to the 3DD1.e in my OZ Kit and can Actually make the Rosie and AZ hit 30 FR.

how did it workout?

I can’t say for sure (Not at home atm so I’m typing away at various mathing, theory builds and random articles and thoughts and whatnot cuz reasons) but in Theory, this should be really really strong for Wilhelm’s DPS, especially if it can work with a Blaster COM.

general idea behind it is to increase DPS to a ridiculous amount?

Yup. You see the idea is that if you can get a ludicrously high Fire Rate on a weapon with ramping damage (That’s based one # of shots landed on target) you can ramp almost instantly and proceed the slap the ever loving crap out of people.

I just need to see an on level Strafing Run to see if it gets the right FR, cuz having to use the Projector makes it a little more lame…

Soo the Blaster thing works, it’s just hard AF to do because trying to aim while jumping with something like the Rosie is fking awful.

aren’t you a sitting duck with no shield in order to activate ER?

It can reacharge between then…? ER lasts for 15 seconds on any shield break.

how long is the FR increase from ER at 8/5 points or even 5/5? Does the duration increase or just the FR?

ok and plus you are using OC at the same time so Saint would re load the shield.

interesting theory, I may assign more points to ER and look for an Oz kit and CM that increases FR.

15 seconds, a very long time. it only matters that ur shield breaks once, then it starts the duration after that it doesn’t matter what happens to ur shield.

Pattern usually goes ER > OC > Kill > MOAR KILLS

i’ll play with ER more, I have it at 2 or 3 right now. I like gun damage buffs so maybe I can find a happy medium with both while still using the CE CM.
