Any Advice for Piston's Blimp (solo)?

This is a bit frustrating - I’ve got 75% there a couple of times, but I keep running out of ammo for anything that can actually reach the blimp without having to lead too much.

I’ve been working towards DoodoaXD’s hybrid build which would look like this at level 72; I’m currently at level 60 and have the Cunning and Bloodshed parts of that build (except I swapped Grim for Be like water), with the remaining 3 points in Headshot. I’m running a leg. Hunter and a Heart of the Ancients to boost sniper rifle damage. I’ve got a mix of blue, purple, and e-tech (mostly snipers and SMGs with a couple of RLs) that are at or close to level, but not much else right now.

Any ideas?

I guess I just got lucky w/ having the corrosive infinity and corrosive sandhawk and a bee. If you need them to you since I’m already 72. But they are 61 and if you’re not far from 61 let me know if you want 'em. I’m on PS3.

Only just got to 60 and I’m on 360 :frowning:

Anyway, what shield are you using? Farm or maybe ask in the trade section for one. Its not the end all be all of shields but it’ll definitely help. Perhaps a corrosive relic (either encient or not) and corrosive snipers, smgs, pistols or assault rifles. For one you can farm the hornet if you haven’t yet. Just go back to claptrap’s place and go back to where you killed him before.

I take it that you use your deception then take shots at the hit box when it shows?

I remember staying inside the tube when I come up the elevator and just took shots from there whenever I can then venture out take a few shots and come back in for cover when the volley of rockets come. Best of luck to you.

OP get yourself a Sniper com. Farm for a corrosive pimp.
temporarily spec a sniper build sniping & cunning

& Blast that sucker out of the sky.

To this tactic you can also stay in the elevator and shoot the blimp while aiming between the spaces of its ceiling- the way the blimp circles around you can get a few good shots if you aim down the sights of your weapon. It may take a while but you’ll be safe and eventually get him…

I was thinking of respeccing and going at least far enough up to get B0re, but then I have to fight my way back through everything to get back up top. So, how does 26 points in Cunning, enough to get to B0re, and the remainder in Bloodshed sound? Is that survivable?

It’s fairly survivable, because of grim but you lose lot of dps by not going all the way down sniping, which you need to defeat the giant block of health that is pistons blimp.

Bloodshed doesn’t offer much gun dps outside of follow through (a kill skill that you don’t have up 100% of the time)

& Like the wind which I’m assuming you don’t have because it’s a cunning hybrid build.

Trust me running back through there with a sniping spec will be painless.

note I’m a melee Zer0 player

OK - thanks for the tips. I’ll try it again tonight.

Ignoring weapons and specs, since there are plenty of suggestions here, what I also do is stay inside the elevator hallway. You have a good chance of getting both the blimp and buzzards from in there. There are holes in the wall that you can shoot through. There are also guns scattered around the tower you can use. But I found that staying inside the hallway is the best for me.

Pistons blimp usually wrecks you when you use the guns on top lol

So, finally made it all the way through the Blimp, Badassaurus, and Piston.

I took the advice about the elevator hallway, and it worked out. In the past, I’ve always hidden in one of the sheds near the elevator; that works great if you have turrets or Deathtrap to throw out, but I found it was too risky for Zer0.

The build I ended up with was this hybrid, which gave me B0re but took too much else away that I’d gotten used to with more of a melee focus. I’m sure there must be a better Zer0 build for level 61 somewhere, but so far all I’ve seen have been 50, 72, and OP8.

Found it very frustrating trying to keep moving as Zer0 on the tower up to where you actually get in the elevator, as it is so easy to fall off. I must have run off into the lava/molten metal about 10 times before I made it all the way up!

I’ve never been much of a melee Zero player (I maxed out the Cunning tree first) but if you don’t mind the suggestion, I’d try this build:

The 1 point in Counter Strike and Like the Wind doesn’t do much for you (unless you have a class mod that boosts them) while the maxed Grim and 4/5 in Backstab should help both with keeping your shields up and doing more melee damage. Do a Youtube search for a guy named Man of Low Moral fiber- he’s done a breakdown of all of Zero’s skills and how they synchronize- he’s got a lot of great info there…

Thanks - that looks a bit better. I’d looked at the DDD skills guide and a few of the community builds, but they all jump straight between level 50 and 72, which is hard when you’re literally between the two! I’ll give this a shot and see if it works better for me.

A Vladof sniper makes it pretty easy.
