Could be anoited legendary.
I managed to get it after a few dozen hits, hoping it was something special. I was guessing it was a legendary anointed gun. I only got a blue Torgue shotgun. It wasn’t even anointed.

I could be wrong but I don’t think you can get anointed gear until you unlock mayhem mode.

The eridian vending machine in the cargo bay only sells anointed weapons. That’s from the second you can use it.

Not that Ive noticed, They just look cooler
I’m pretty sure it’ll give you an alien gun every time (alien attachment) which does add to the gun. Inspect an alien gun and look for that specific attachment it should be a buff better than any regular one, and I’ve noticed the “red guns” have good stats.
When I got that result the gun it gave me was a blue gun that had an alien barrel.
