There was no tooltip of the weapon warning me of this: But the shield only gives exp+loot bonus up to level 10?! The actual ■■■■, I also assumed it’d work the same as in BL2: Every character gets a copy (this is my fault, there are actually warnings about this… but still…)
Is my shield absolutely wasted? I just get no reward at all from my purchase, or is this somethow salvage-able?
Look at it this way. It probably has better stats overall than any shield you’re going to find in the wild at that level for for the next couple of levels.
I think this shield is meant to be unlocked at level 1 if you want to use the xp / loot boosts, but to be honest you’re probably not missing much unless you wanted more green rarity items over white ones. If one was allowed to use the shield for the whole game you’d probably end up overleveled and not many more legendaries than you would have had without it, if any. Borderlands is still supposed to be a bit of a grind up until you get close to your first capstone anyway, so to remove that kind of takes the sense of accomplishment out of the game if you’re three levels stronger than a main story boss.
That shields kinda pointless plus you can get past level 10 in two hours play and that early you’re not likely to find that great of loot anyways
I agree that the amount of money spent on the game and bonus DLC should not give a worthless shield like this. It is in fact not worthy of being called legendary when the “legendary” effect is not even usable as the shield is not usable until after level 10. I consider this a problem since I was promised better loot with my actual money.
To be fair. each of the 4 DLCs will probably be roughly $20 each. you saved yourself $40?
I assumed that mine was level 11 or 12 because I redeemed it at that level. I’m assuming that if I had redeemed it at Level 1, it would be a Level 1 Shield, and would actually be usable. I’ll test it with a new character when I get home.
Confirmed. I loaded up a Level 1 character, who got fresh deliveries of all the Preorder stuff, and the Shield was Level 1. So it’s not useless; you just redeemed it too late for it to be useful. Other characters will be able to use it just fine.
So you get your preorder weapons/items for every new character you start? I thought it was only for one so I haven’t claimed any of mine yet. LOL. Guess I can just claim them on a new character. I figured I would get better use of them if I waited to claim them at a higher level but I guess not. Whoops.
Yup. My Level 1 character has 3 weapons (only one of which is usable), a Shield, and 3 Grenade Mods, if I’m remembering correctly. And my character hasn’t moved from the starting spot when you get off the bus and Claptrap gives you the Echo-3. So I didn’t get to Sanctuary and pull them from the Safe.
You withdrew them from the mail system though? I does it go back to the BL2 way of pre-order bonus after you get from mail once? If I wasn’t at work right now I would just make a new character to check. LOL not that my boss would be happy about me been on the forum either 
No, they don’t appear in the inventory automatically like the Contraband Sky Rocket and the Gearbox weapons. Instead,you have to claim them from the Mail system. However, each character you create gets those mails, so every character can make use of them.
I got it for the content tbh, not the perks always cheaper to get the “Season Pass” then buy the dlc separate… but the weapon skins are nice at least.
