Moze I.B. weapons mapped to wrong button - can't fix

In Iron Bear - So no matter which weapon I put in left or right arm, the game forces the right arm to the the PRIMARY fire slot (left mouse button) and the left arm to be the SECONDARY fire slot (right mouse button).

Now, obviously, I could remap the keys using the in-game menu, but then I have to remap the PRIMARY FIRE & SECONDARY FIRE, when means when I’m not in Iron Bear, I have to click RIGHT mouse button for my primary fire with hand-held weapons and LEFT mouse button for secondary fire. :man_facepalming:

This is simply the dumbest  layout design I’ve come across in a long time. Name me any other game in which dual-wielding weapons doesn’t align left button with left arm fire and right button with right arm fire?

It is so annoying that I’m juuuusssst about ready to drop my Moze build altogether because I despise using the Iron Bear - which defeats the whole purpose of Moze. :rage:

Any advice?

Go under options > controls > basic > scroll all the way to the bottom

There’s a section named “iron bear” with a single option: “Swap Firing.” Turn it on.

Umm, Borderlands 2? Salvador also has this as his default control scheme, and the reasoning is that he normally holds his gun right-handed, so when he pulls out another one, the gun he was already using stays in the same hand and fires using the same input.

As an aside, you may not care for this design choice, but you should try to be less hyperbolic, cause it certainly isn’t the dumbest layout they could have created, and I was pretty strongly inclined to ignore your thread since you think my preferred layout is so dumb.

As Sen11148 said, there is a config option in settings to swap the firing controls. Hope you were able to get it figured out.

Fair enough, @benzillah, I used hyperbole. Last time I checked, Borderlands itself was chocked-full of hyperbole, so I’m not particularly worried about self-editing on the forums. Consider the missing “IMO” added.

I never used a character in B2 that used offhand guns in such a way as to have the button mapping come into my consideration, so you also have me there.

However, I will hold true to 2 remaining points… while in “character”, I can see your argument for having the buttons default as-is - however when mounted into a vehicle or in this case, mech, I can’t imagine why the default setting would be criss-crossed button mapping - PARTICULARLY since you have to manually mount the weapons yourself (pick gatling, grenade, rail or double of each) and assign them to the left & right arms visually.

Also, the obscure location of the Iron Bear button swapping option is also of particular note, because as the previous paragraph indicates, mounting a mech is similar (IMO) to mounting a vehicle, so the logical assumption would be that the controls for such would be located with the vehicle control section of the options/customization/button-mapping screen. Or if you take the stance that the mechanic of mounting a mech is technically your “special ability” and not actually a vehicle, then perhaps the controls for that might be located with the other button mapping section? Instead, the Iron Bear swap mode is isolated at the bottom of a completed unrelated control screen from wither of the previous.

Regardless, I am now happily mapped back to a more intuitive and logical mech-mounted weaponry control scheme (for me and my playstyle) and working diligently to save Pandora yet again.
