Awesome in Normal, weak in TVHM/UVHM?

My Aurelia is now 46 and early into TVHM playthrough. I have what you’d expect someone with avg luck to have - a few good glitch guns, a few legendaries, and low level but useful celestial com. Everything else purple.

In Normal playthrough, was an absolute blast - and very powerful even with green crap gear. Her action skill basically cleared the whole normal game playthrough except Claptastic DLC Eclipse boss.

Went with center cryo tree first to capstone, and now going down left tree. Using the recommended purple fast delay/recharge tediore shield that guides suggest is best, with mix of elements other than fire.

Two issues with Aurelia now -

  1. Even at 46, cant beat normal mode Eclipse / EOS - however. am not too worried for now as i feel its my needing to learn some strategy where to duck / hide and farming a few more pieces of gear.

  2. Bigger concern is while my TVHM play is still doable - just hit Research and Development map - i am starting to see how squishy Aurelia is. Couple hits and in ffyl.

So i put Aurelia on hold while i level Jack to same level. Is Aurelia always squishy in TVHM and UVHM, or does givng up on fast charge/delay tediore ahield for something with lot more capacity the only way to beef up survivalbility?

Depends. Works both ways. Either be a super aggressive glass Cannon that relies in frigid touch to keep the life leech going, or be an overly careful sniper. Whichever you choose, do specialize, half-baked skill builds don’t get you anywhere.

I like the first one more, but it’s very dependant on gear.

I’m going to second what @Ha_Na said, but keep in mind that you don’t have to go crazy with element matching if you dont want to.
On my only charecter to clear UVHM so far, Nisha, I did so primarily using the best weapon I could find in NE, Shock, or Explosive, along with various cryo damage surces.
My point is, use the best gear you can but don’t go crazy with the farming untill end game, if you’re having a hard time, I’ve found that alternating between the claptrap DLC and the main story line has worked very well for me

I’m having the same experience. my tipping point was when I tried fighting RK5 and just repeatedly got my ass handed to me. Switched to athena and beat every mode and boss with ease.

Short answer, yes she is that squishy. As mentioned above you can find guides for bosses using her, but if you prefer a beefier character I recommend switching and not looking back.

Thanks for the tips and replies. I started a Jack char and not quite up to same lev 46 as my Aurelia but seems from skills he is less squishy so will fit my play style better

Aurelia for sure is a beast on normal mode because my Jack even using the good gear i already had with Aurelia wasnt as dominating as Aurelia on normal, but i feel him getting better and less squishy as he goes, while Aurelia was the reverse - super powerful at start and almost unkillable with action skill spam, but then starts to get more squishy as she levels past normal mode.

Actually, using Tediore shields didn´t work for me. I used the Black Hole or Fabled Tortoise at higher levels. You may want to try these or turtle shields in general.

tediore shields do not work anymore on aurelia above lvl 35-40
i switched to a turtle or better SoA (clap dlc)
use short summer or a delay boost oz kit
it is my most powerful character now at lvl70 (solo)
but she is not made for melee players !

I beg to differ. Tediore shields worked at lvl 60, and they still work at 70 for general mobbing, unless you try to facetank (which is silly on Aurelia).

For boss situations, I prefer naught + vanquisher + 3dd1.e or shield duality, for everything else it’s tediore inflammable shield and an active hit and run play style.

i am not a good player, liked axton on bl2, throw the turrets and kill from a distance
tediore can be good for skilled offensive players (with bitter riposte)
hit and hide give your shield time to reload (my style) but the fight takes longer
i also change to the naught (or other) shield for boss fight
only the one who adapt survives , we got free choice luckily
just finished clappy at lvl70 if aurelia had his health reg she would not need a shield

Will definitely give Aurelia another go after I get my Jack char to 70. I just wanted my first 70 char to be more solid defensively and Jack seems good mix.

My Aurelia is 50 and my fast delay/charge Tediore really takes a hit on TVHM. I think it’s definitely doable with the right gear and play style but for now I’d like a more defensive setup when I re-try Aurelia.

If you don’t go Tediore, why a Turtle shield? Isn’t Turtle shields high capacity but the longest delay and slowest recharge?

I felt the same way about Aurelia in the 50s-- I got killed a lot. But her lethality starts to pick up again in the 60s. She definitely needs good gear. She’s absolutely wicked with a Flayer or Skullmasher and 200+ stacks of Duchess. I’m only at 64 right now, but I can take down EOS with ease with just the Skullmasher.

i kinda cheated getting my Baroness to level 50 by getting boosted by co-op with a higher level teammate on UVHM
i speed run all the way to reach UVHM and decided there to play her throughout the story & side-missions until i reach level 70 on that difficulty

in my experience and opinion… playing her SOLO is really difficult even i have level (skills) advantage cuz the enemy scales with you on UVHM, even access early to good equipment, but playing her with CO-OP or TEAM with a Servant less the burden of difficulty of surviving on UVHM and makes her and the whole game more fun

i think once you reach level 60+ and have the proper gear for what kind of game-style/play or build your going for and comfortable with, it can be really easy even in SOLO, well not easy but still challenging lol

if you play solo then ,
at lvl70 a tediore shield will get you one shot killed when your health is low
and aurelia has no health regeneration (outside her trap skill or sniper)
(i tried it but give up tediore even with 0.98 delay ))
stack short summer and use a shield delay booster oz kit
and always keep an eye on your health value

Frigid touch. 10% health steal. More than any moxxi gun. Transfusion grenades. And close range magic bullet sniping.

I’m currently using an inflammable turtle shield at lvl 65… works great, although I’m only using it because it’s fire-proof (I never realized how much it saves you… I just fought the Bosun and crushed him because his lasers couldn’t get a fire DoT on me).

Tediore just seems way too weak at higher levels. Im normally stacking 100+ Short Summer stacks, so recharge delay seems less important.

Just to clarify my op - i found Aurelia at tvhm (no xp with uvhm with her yet) to be more squisny in a one or two shot kind of way (from non bosses)

For sustained damage that doesnt outright kill me in one or two hits, the sniper tree skill that gives hp regen was good enough. Not as strong as other chars but ok.

Tediore snields through normal was awesome but in tvhm and i expect even more so in uvhm, its the one or two shots that kill me before i can try to regen hp that i found to be most squisny scenario.

After i get back to aurelia i’ll try non tediore shields.

Tediore shields work okay on a lvl 70 melee hybrid build, really. I guess the key is to get frigid touch up as soon as possible, so you can outheal the incoming damage to your health, while controlling the enemies with the Action skill. The only real danger are cryo resistant enemies.

with no health regeneration i mean no free health like some other characters
you have to do something to get health wich is not always possible
frigid touch --> needs a kill ‘and’ cryo damage
magic bullet --> sniper ‘and’ crit (sentinel ?)
nisha , claptrap and others gets some free health and shield restoration
–> order, jurisdiction , bottled courage, showdown etc.

I now in normal play with a lot of bandits aurelia is very good
(just finished the mutator at lvl9 - got a moonlight saga = excellent for aurelia)
it is only in some special occasions i wich i liked to have more ‘free’ health/shield generation like the other characters
also in solo play there is no fast shield restoration (eddy or moonlight ?)
but i like here firepower (skullmaster= one shot kill) it’s a choice to make
the holodome video is based on slamming cryo, i should try that also

Transfusion grenades / leech. There’s your free heals! As for defense, I use a Juggernaut oz kit for damage resistance on my melee hybrid. 3DD1.e for stupid boss fights (Sentinel)

Also, why not combine cryo with sniping? It only makes sense. Frozen enemies are easier to snipe, and take more crit damage. A Cryo snider with added explosive Custom Load will do 2x its normal crit damage on frozen targets, and allows you to build I never miss much easier than a skullmasher

looked in al my characters /mules, found a dandy corinthian glitched maliwan cryo snider
forgot about the extra splash damage with maliwan (only used pimpernel in bl2)
go test it out and do some farming
