Changing elements!

It feels so needed to have a way to change elements.
I find myself constantly entering the menu going to the skill tree and changing the element.
Having a key that will change to the “next” unlocked element would be great.
let it have cd. once per skill use. i don’t know.
but i hating going into the menu mid battle because of an enemy with resistance!
But where can i suggest such a thing? to who?

It is one of the most wanted features on the reddit sub. There is just no logic to have this feature but being forced to go to the menu every time.

Would be an awesome addition to be able to assign a button (buttons) to switch them.
Please do that!

Make it like Fl4k’s attack command. Hold [Action skill] to switch elements.

Or at least make it so that pressing the button during the skill’s cooldown would let us swap the elements around, if tapping/holding the button would be too finicky for the game to tell if we wanted to fire the skill or not.

That would interfere with Avatar. Holding the button would be the only useful option.

Just allow it as a keybind would work just fine. Being able to bind element switching to mousewheel up/down would be the cat’s ass.

Gotta think of console/controller players too.

Allowing you to change the element in the Quick Menu would apply to both PC and console players.

what do you mean?

That’s an automated response by the forums software when a user deletes his own post.

Would work well for pc, but console players need an option too. Holding down ability would be best.

I would kill (loads of psychos atleast) for the ability to change “emote-wheel” to “usefull-things-wheel”. Like elemental switching, or loadouts of different gear, or autoeject all white items from inventory… Just make a huge list of stuff, and then we can all choose what we have there.

Fixed.

but it is my post

It doesn’t affect your posts. He just commented in this topic and decided he wants his comment to be gone afterwards.

I just made a topic about this before realizing this already existed.

I 100% agree that this feature is practically a must. The whole point of her is to be able to be a flexible elemental powerhouse, but it takes way too long to go into your menu and change the attuned element, so you can’t really swap it in the middle of battle. This makes a skill like Infusion (which could be awesome because it automatically converts some gun damage into her Action Skill Element) often a detriment because enemy groups are often varied.

If you could cycle through her Action Skill Elements by holding the Action Skill button (the same way that you do with FL4K for his pet attack command) that would make her extremely dynamic during battle - which is what she is supposedly built for according to the devs.

Another vote for this from me. If there’s one thing I hate it’s interrupting combat with menus. Especially in frantic Brawl combat.

Guess I’m one of the few people who doesn’t agree here.

I like the idea of committing to a build or classes identity, something all of the other classes do.

Even as an Amara main I think this would give her a big advantage over other classes particularly in Mayhem modes.

Another consideration is that currently it makes you think about your weapon loadouts so that you always have guns /grenades to deal with shield, armour, flesh as you encounter them.

Hot swappable elements negates a lot of this thought process. Aside from that it all just feels like a bit of a chore to be min/maxing at such a micromanaged level, when Borderlands is supposed to be a run and gun experience.

But you can already do it, you just have to TAB out to the menu and change it. It certainly indicates that you’re intended to switch elements as the situation dictates and that its one of Amara’s perks. Having to open the menu, skill tree, change element in the middle of a fight kind of ruins the flow.

I think it means they intend for players to be able to choose from different elements yes, but stretching that to they also intend for hot-swapping at will during combat to be the go to gameplay has no basis.

Surely if that was the intent they would have indeed implemented such a system already as playtest must surely have feedback that the current system is clunky and flow breaking.

I guess only the devs themselves really know what their vision for this mechanic was.
