Question about Preorder Weapons, Maliwan Legendary, and other VIP weapons

So I have all of the weapons that I earned either through Pre-order, or VIP points purchases in my in-game mail. But I haven’t “accepted” any of the weapons from the email yet.

Are these weapons a specific level for everyone OR if I wait to redeem these when I’m a higher level, will the weapon scale to my level when I redeem the rewards?

If the gun scales - I don’t want to redeem it until I’m a higher level because I feel if I open it at say, level 5 or 6, I won’t get much use out of it before it becomes obsolete.

Anyone know?

Edit: I don’t think I have the Maliwan legendary in my inbox though. I met all of the requirements, but haven’t seen it.

I believe they will be the level of your currently selected (default) character the moment you accept them. I don’t know if there’s a level cap or not.

I have claimed 1 weapon from the mail at lvl 3, it was level 3 and does not grow in levels as i do. Its now useless. I claimed all other weapons from the mail at lvl 10. They are all level 10. Therefore will be useless in 3-5 levels. Huge waste of my time and effort.Very displeased with this. I also never recieved the legendary maliwan gun reward i earned on the vip site. Definitely wait to claim the weapons until you are higher levels. I’ve emailed tech support about the missing maliwan gun. No reply yet. I think these VIP weapons should level up as the players do. Now all my VIP and Pre-order guns and equipment are completely useless.

Another question I would like to ask is when should I get the mailed VIP gear. Right away or level up then get them.

Hello,

I have completed the eight checkmarks on the VIP site, and another one for good measure, but have not received the Legendary Maliwan Weapon. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a fix?

Seems to be a common problem - if you look in the tech support sections, you’ll see the same question on all platforms. Not sure of the timeline for a resolution at this point, but you can file a support ticket to register the fact that yours is also missing.

They are all level 10 regardless what level you will be. Dosent matter if your higher or lower level. Itll be lvl 10 no matter what.

Submitted my ticket. It’s insane to me that this many people are having this issue with an item like this and we haven’t heard anything from Gearbox.

Can anyone approve this?
I mean the text at the VIP rewards say that the weapons are lvl 10, but i assumed that that would change as soon as the game is released.
ATM I’m level 25, had a really hard time to beat “Billy, The Anointed Goliath” and thought about claiming a legendary for the next boss fight. But if they are still lvl 10 that’s totally useless…

I received my legendary maliwan gun. I retrieved it at level 11 and it was level 11. I however did not receive my other 3 VIP guns that I purchased with points. I waited until level 10 to open anything and realized it was, for the most part, a waste. Most of the items I retrieved were lower level or the status effects were only beneficial up to level 10. Definitely disappointing.

That’s why I kept my VIP points save until now. To be honest, I would only claim one for a hard boss fight, knowing that a few hours later it would be totally useless…

They are lvl 10 and will only be lvl 10. I claimed mine at 15 and they were lvl 10. It even says it on their website that the guns will be lvl 10.

You’re welcome. I wish they’d level up as you do in the game. For the guns that we acquire off the website I mean. Its totally useless to have a lvl 10 gun at lvl 20 :joy:

I decided I really didn’t care and redeemed mine at level 4. No regrets!

So all the items scale to your current level when redeemed,except the three purple BL3 guns which will always be level 10.

And all items are redeemable one time per user, not character? So if I pick up the VIP Mali Legendary with my Lv14 character, my Lv46 character won’t have their own copy, right?

Items can be redeemed once per character in my experience. For example, I redeemed everything on my current Siren, and to test, I started a Gunner, and was able to re-redeem everything. Haven’t tested if this is per character or per playthrough (in other words, whether you get to redeem them again when you start TVHM), but i’d be surprised if it was per playthrough.

Also, there is some scaling going on, but I don’t have full information on how much. The Maliwan SMG and CoV Launcher were locked around Level 12, and on my Siren, everything else was also around Level 12, since that’s when I redeemed the gear. However, on my Level 1 Gunner, one of the guns (the water pistol), the shield, and all the Grenades were Level 1. The Maliwan SMG and CoV Launcher, though, were both still around Level 12.
