Console input feeling sluggish - latency

I’ve been playing Borderlands 3 for a few hours on the PS4 but one of the things I’ve noticed is a real latency between my input and the response in the game.

As it’s a very fast paced game it is quite jarring and very disorientating, not to mention it makes precise aiming and movement a lot harder.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it the same for PC players? I’m using a regular PS4, is the performance better of PS4 pro?

I’m using a PS4 slim (not pro) and i’m not noticing anything particularly. Have you put your Field of View up to maximum? I did and also maximum sensitivity for the right stick. I realise this might not be for everyone but it really makes everything feel smoother. I did think the aiming was a bit screwy at first but I think it was more my error because now i’ve played longer, i’m hitting with much better accuracy.

I’ve just increased the FOV as you said and it has helped a bit with aiming but I think the issue is still there. It’s most noticeable will trying to loot things, it feels like my character is drunk! :stuck_out_tongue:

yes, there is horrible input lag. lowering the analog deadzone helps somewhat, but its still noticable. idk how this got through QA or how anyone at gearbox thought it was acceptable to release a modern shooter that moves as fast as borderlands with this kind of unresponsive aiming. at least give me the option to lower the visual settings and have a game that doesnt feel like im moving through tar.

I can feel terrible input lag (or latency) aswell, i really hope they fix it with a patch soon. My TV isn’t the problem because i have had that happen before with TV’s that don’t have a gamemode display setting. Every other game ive played has not had near as much input lag as BL3.

This isn’t a thing on the XBox ONE X for me but then I do have “Borderlands 3” installed to a very good External Hard Drive (WD Passport).

Where is your game installed?

Thinks seem to be running smooth on my Xbox One X but what I did notice is the lack of tactile feel for most of the weapons compared to BL 1 and 2. I just replayed 1 and 2 over the last couple of months as a tune up for 3, so I don’t think its from lack of playing. Anybody else notice this?

I find the weapons respond great. Especially Full Auto Shotguns. You see it, hear it and feel it. The guns feel great.

Try removing axial deadzone and only having the other deadzones as high as you need to keep your controller from wandering. Seemed to work for me and make aiming feel like it does as in any other game without stick acceleration (I have sensitivity high). If not removing. Lowering should certainly help. Unless I’m totally wrong, don’t know what I’m talking about, and this is a separate issue from what I was having.

For me now i’ve tweaked a bunch of setting and it feels much better than it originally did. It’s still not quite perfect but it’s a lot better than it was, I’ve been playing BL2 on PC recently so it’s been a massive shift coming back over to console.

Perhaps we’ll see further improvements to the input lag over time, the game is very much playable ( a little too much so ) Looking forward to finishing it and seeing what’s in store at endgame!

I reached out to 2K and this is their response -
