What tree do you guys plan to go down for leveling Amara? I can see merit in all 3 to be honest and I can’t decide.
I’d start with the brawl tree for sure. Personal space is a lot of really efficient damage right off the bat, the rest of the low level skills offer survivability. Around level 15ish it starts to become less universally appealing and you have enough points to make the other trees useful, so that’s a good time to consider respeccing.
I’m going 5 into infusion and then eliminated fist to get melee elemental ant soul fire since mostly flash enemies at the start then going down the brawl tree
I am going to start with 5 points into brawl, to get some close range damage. At level 9 I will respec and put my 6 points into the red tree in order to reach illuminated fists for the first melee buff and the ability to exploit enemy weaknesses. Which should provided some damage.
Then I descent the brawl tree again in order to reach Find Your Center at level 24 and I really hope to reach Blitz until the first playthrough ends at 30.
I’m going Fist of the Elements off the bat. Phasegrasp just looks so damn good as an action skill at the start of the game when you’re weakest. First skill points will definitely be Infusion then Tempest then Dread, at which point you could swap to Eternal Fist and you also get Allure. I think in terms of the first 3 tiers, FotE is the strongest tree.
Brawl would be my second choice but I’m not liking the early skills it gets. Mystical Assault would be a distant 3rd to start with.
For me… 5 points in Amina
Go 3 in personal space, 2 in clarity
5 in Helping Hands
Then go crazy down the Fist of the Elements.
5 Levels into the green tree self heals. Once you get heal with blue tree or some item that heals you over time respec and go to town.
Early leveling can end up with crazy spec’s till you get your 1st capstone.
Also consider that amara’s skill is electric, having options for fire or corosive would be wise with a press of a button. Pitty it cant be hotkeyd:(.
Hopefully some of the ubber legendary give you all 3 elements to your class skill or some such. Or if we are lucky one that add’s Ice. Fire N Ice amara would be sooo …hot…
I tried FotE first w/ infusion but died to killa jolt and respec’d into clarity and threw on some 50% max hp shield I had and it was so much easier. I had started to find elemental weapons around that time and ended up going hydrid but forsook infusion for anima since it was better as how I was already using good elemental weapons.
In retrospect, Brawl early game is the best hands down because of healing and personal space and because one doesn’t seem to find elemental weapons much early game. Also, infusion didn’t seem to help much by itself. I would love to be able to dps test in sanctuary to get my head around infusion more but well… I tried to do it some in the field but it was inconclusive. Bottom line, wtfever this shotgun I got that has a radiation dot multiple times higher than any other weapon I have gets boosted from anima and tempest more so I really just see infusion as a utility choice atm for if I find a good non elemental gun. Even down more I’m not sure if it would beat spread chance or steady hands to advance the tree without further testing.
I think Elements for me it’s the one I’ll rarely use. I’m mostly in the blue and green. Also I haven’t use her skill in the past 6hrs. My gun choices eliminate enemies quickly so I don’t even need to execute it. I’m sure late in the game I’ll reset them and rearrange them to my needs more. Brawler is a no brainer early in the game though
I’ve been trying to make Mystical Assault work as a leveling build, but it’s not doing much of anything for me at the moment. I think it’s one that really requires it’s capstone to function as a cohesive whole.
That said, I’ve had no problems with elements, and survivability has been better than expected. This is because I put 5 points into Infusion to unlock the Fire Augment, and 5 points into the skill in her Brawl tree that causes her to regenerate Health constantly. My go-to weapon is a non-elemental Hyperion SMG,but thanks to Infusion, not only does it have an element, but that element can be switched at-will. And the constant healing skill is a lot better than I remember Maya’s being.
I fleshed out Anima and Tempest first and foremost, they work to reinforce her elemental damage potential regardless of what build you decide to spec her into, and it gets her Soulfire for her Action Skill. Then I went with Illuminated Fist before switching over to Brawl to give more melee damage and add her Action Skill element to her melee for the matching damage modifier.
For Brawl I started with Personal Space and 2 points in Clarity for some basic health regen, then respecced for all 5 in Clarity when I could get 5 in Helping Hands and 1 for Find Your Center, since at that point I was getting stronger guns and needed more health regen for bosses. Both net you Blight Tiger for Corrosive damage on your Action Skill/Illuminated Fist. Currently moving into Mystical Assault with 2 each in Do Harm and Violent Tapestry for the Rush stacks on Action Skill damage and Elemental Effect chance.
For her used Action Skill I started with Phasegrasp with Eternal Fist and Allure for better crowd control, though as I’m getting better melee boosting gear I’ve been using Phaseslam and Revelation. Also been using Phasecast with Revelation for boss fights where it pays to shift between getting in close for melee and keeping distance to stack DoTs with guns.
Also use anything Radiation and Cryo you can get, freezing with Cryo helps with melee and Radiation, especially with Torgue sticky bullets stacking increased damage, builds up insanely quick and heavy DoTs. Both are also the more “neutral” elemental damage dealers now that Shock has been even closer linked to shield damage, and they’re both my go-to when facing enemies with matched resistances like flesh enemies imbued with Incendiary.
The thing I noticed quickly in BL3 is the insane amount of guns with elements that let’s me focus on points on other trees.
The healing still is definitely worth it, I trigger it everytime I activate my skill, I rarely go on fight for your life.
