Zane just became OP (small gear spoilers)

TLDR: for people who dont know.

  1. Class mods can now unlock any skill regardless of whether you specced into them.

  2. Class Mods can Unlock Capstones even if you havent specced into them. (Biggie for Zane)

  3. Legendary Class mods unlock brand new skills not on the tree.

So in terms of who it benefits the most… capstones mostly.

  1. Zane… since 2 of his capstone involve Action skills and he can deploy 2 action skills at the same time. You do the math.

  2. Amara: Her biggest weakness is her action skill cooldowns. She would benefit greatly from Avatar. Then you can choose between melee Amara or gun damage Amara.

  3. Moze… IMO her shield tree is a ridiculous and very hard to pass up. I would go for Forge over short fuse personally.

  4. Fl4k… good ole Fl4k gets more damage than they actually need.

At any time or you need reach their tier?

Based on my understanding if you have a skill in your class mode then you’ve unlocked it on your tree.

Any time from what I’ve heard. You don’t need to reach the tier or spend 1 skill point to get the class mod effect like Borderlands 2.

Well, that’s very stupid.

Every Class is OP if we build around good class mods. All depends on the content I think.

Not really, because it’s possible to find class mods early game that modify skills that are late game on the tree. Those class mods would be a total waste if you needed to reach that tier on the tree to unlock the effect, because you will have found better class mods by then. So for instance, if you are level 8 and you find a class mod that gives 1 skill point to Moze’s Tier 5 Phalanx Doctrine skill, you can go ahead and equip it and have the effect of that 1 skill point. I don’t really see the issue with that.

It could be stupid…if endgame is a cake walk then its not a good idea.

If endgame is Borderlands 2 level the more options the better.

We can only speculate… as long as we dont know how “challenging” endgame looks like… We should wait with these types of discussion until we get a clear view of that. Coz “this & that is OP” types of threads are not very healthy for a game - especially if its not even released yet.

Well, the level 50 Trials do seem quite easy with this Amara melee build, which has a class mod which gives her melee damage capstone extra points:

However, there may be much harder end-game content than the trials.

As far as I know only legendary class mods seem to boost capstone tier skills, which is fitting as that really sets them apart from the ordinary mods, than can “only” unlock regular skills. Also, some of the relics are so stupidly good that people will be able to make pretty much every build OP.

Based on the video this just sounds like Maya’s +movement speed while Phaselock is active, Jack’s reverse recoil, Nisha’s life steal during Showdown, etc… But we’ll see in 2 weeks.

If class mods can pull that off, then a properly set up Moze could probably push nearly-unlimited duration with a mod that increases her Deadlines skill to 6/3 or further.
(For the unaware, Deadlines reduces the Fuel cost for firing weapons by 10% per rank max 30% reduction at 3/3.) Couple this with fuel efficient weapon augments such as General Winter (Minigun Augment, reduces Fuel cost to fire the augmented Minigun by 40%) and you could, in theory anyway, fire forever without worrying about Fuel consumption.

if you use Fl4k and make a build some what like this, https://t.co/lJlLnu6EJU?amp=1
and you managed to get a class mod that gave you 1 or 2 points into The Power Inside and around 5 points into Two F4ng, you would deal so much damage you could probably kill most bosses in just a few shots while cloaked.

if The Power Inside is at 2 and Two F4ng is at 10 and stacks with crit damage the way i think it does( total damage first then total crit added after) you will be dealing 2x the total amount of damage with full health, with a 50% chance to deal another 2x damage on top of that because of the extra bullet.

say you had a gun that did 10000 true damage, it would effectively be 20000 x 230% crit damage + the weapons critical multiplier on top of that, and the 75% damage boost per hit while cloaked making your 3rd shot deal a total of 150% extra damage.
and then you have a 50% chance to do double all of that.
if he had a class mod that did that, he can pretty much annihilate any opponent in just 3 shots with a high damage high crit weapon.

Not much to say about this until we have more information to work with. Getting a boosted capstone sounds great on paper, but what if it’s mutually exclusive with class mods giving +5 or +6 to other awesome skills? Keep in mind that previous games also didn’t make every normal skill available on class mods. Zane mods giving access to seein’ red or double barrel would be really powerful, but may not even be options.

It’s cool to know that capstone class mods are a thing, but that fact alone doesn’t tell us anything about what end game balance is going to look like.

This. Bl2 and TPS already had this - unless of course the ‘extra skill’ given by the COM is much more gamechanging.

As far as I can tell from gameplay, the class mods DO unlock skills, even without points added, but you have to unlock their respective tier in the tree for them to activate.

Dude. So you’re saying classmods can have unique skills you can spec into? Uh, what is this game, there’s so much going on that i’m getting a brainorgasm.

Class mods will have skills from the skill trees, not unique skills.

To be more precise, class mods works the same as in BL1/BL2/ TPS. The only new feature is that you don’t need spent points into skills boosted by COM.
Some class mods (probably legendary) will have additional skills, the same as in previous BL2/TPS.
