Am I crazy or is this skill insanely underwhelming? It says that it buffs pet bonuses by 20% per point, up to 100%. But the base pet bonuses are extremely low, for instance the Eridian Skag’s pet bonus is 5% bonus damage and 5% fire rate for FL4K. Wouldn’t buffing those by 100% only double them from 5% to 10% bonus damage and fire rate? That is a total waste of 5 skill points in my eyes.
But on the other hand, I can’t see that skill giving him 105% bonus gun damage and 105% fire rate, that would be insanely broken. So what is going on with this skill? Does it boost other things like the bonuses from skills like Frenzy and Pack Tactics?
If I am understanding the way the skill works correctly, Barbaric Yawp would need to give at least a 50% bonus per point instead of 20% per point to be a viable skill. At 50% per point with 5 points in the skill, the pet bonuses would be as follows:
Great Horned Skag:
+17.5% all damage
+35% gun damage
Eridian Skag:
+17.5% all damage
+17.5% fire rate
Beefcake Jabber:
+17.5% movement speed
+35% max health
Gunslinger Jabber:
+17.5% movement speed
+17.5% critical hit damage
Spiderant Scorcher:
+3.5% health regen per second
+35% elemental damage
Spiderant Countess
+3.5% health regen per second
+17.5% damage reduction
Those seem like fair bonuses for spending 5 skill points imo. But it’s just not worth spending skill points on for only 20% per point.
It’s slightly underwhelming, yes BUT it’s also very flexible because with those 5 points you get to double, at will, any of the 3 pet’s passive bonuses to Fl4k so technically it’s a skill that isn’t fixed on what it buffs and can buff different things depending on your current pet. Also I’m sure there will be Class Mods to boost it to like 10/5 making it 200%. Will it be worth it over other skills/mods? Dunno.

We don’t know yet how the skill even works. It is very possible that the skill also doubles all bonuses Fl4k gets from other pet skills, like “Frenzy” or “Eager to Impress” for example. Until we know what it does, we can’t measure the skill as it could literally go from “completely garbage” to “busted as ■■■■”, depending on what it does.
Totally true. But still as mentioned by @ZephanUnbound Barbaric Yawp opens up flexibility. Need more healing? Use the spiderant with 2% max health per sec! Need more damage? Use the great horned skag that not only then ups your gun damage by 20% but also your damage (implying that this is multiplicative!) by another 10%. Not too bad for such a flexible skill.
