Best assault rifle for gaige OP 10?

I know people probably suggest hail, but I have hard time to maneuvering with its trajectory. It seems only good for beating terramorphous in my playthrough. I used it like shotgun at point blank or fire upon enemies by taking advantage of its splash damage. But I am not sure if I used correctly or not, because its damage isn’t great and op is more like dps check. could someont tell me their experience how to use hail for mobbing?

Ok, back to the topic, I tried most unique AR, but all their damage output is kind mediocre. I got an ogre, the good thing is it rains the battlefield with bullets, the bad thing is it rains the battlefield with bullets to kill one. Another AR I tried is Veruc, not a bad gun, just the dps ins’t good enough. The last AR I can get my hands on is seeker, people say it’s good with Anarchy build, but I found it’s special effect can’t compensate very low fire rate and can’t score critical hits.

The peak opener aka the shock bearcat :ok_hand:t2:

With Gaige you should be looking for multiple projectiles. Once you start building Anarchy damage numbers don’t matter as much. A Hail is good because anarchy and close enough usually mean you don’t have to worry about the firing pattern. The Peak Opener, which works like a Kerblaster with shock on the initial projectile, will do pretty nuts damage even without crits, but the splash can down you and Anarchy will make it harder to avoid. A Kitten will put in work, and a Veruc has always worked for me. All of these work because of Anarchy and Close Enough. A Spitter will put alot of munitions out there, Jakobs gatling guns are nice, and Vladof fire rates do well. Anarchy Gaige is all spray and pray, so crits aren’t something you can usually depend on. Check the top gear thread for some more suggestions that I may have overlooked.

The hail and peak opener are top of the pack for gaige, but I also use the Bekah whenever my stacks allow because of how it interacts with the Nth Degree and Close Enough.
I suppose you could also go with a kitten if the hail isn’t your style.

I was just gonna say the Bekah, that’s great for Gaige!
Does the Toothpick work well for Gaige?

I don’t use the Toothpick enough to say, but from my experience it kind of acts like a fire-locked sandhawk that uses the AR ammo pool instead.
For gaige I usually only go shock or nonelemental, outside of niche uses for other items(fire hail on terra, corrosive on BArex, etc).
So no toothpick here, not even for the speed buff in writhing deep.

The Kitten is good but use it as a shotgun if you are stacking Anarchy. The fire rate is pretty good and the Moxxi healing allows you to keep close.
A Kitten and a Firehawk shield carried me through a lot of UVHM, when it came out, with a SiC spec.

Also, Vladof Blasters are surprisely good for Gaige imo. Ive seem some good Veruc gameplay, but it is not for me personally.

But, tbh, I dont know if they scale into OP10. OP8 they are viable.

As a Maya Mainer lol I am a sandhawk girl 100% but the toothpick is still tooo slow for me
I only use it for that speed buff Bc it’s fun other than that I’m not into it it’s pretty much an incendiary veruc

Well, I already covered most of the AR you mentioned, but thanks for your help anyways

Just want to know how do you handle the hail? Aim the ground when you close to enemy or aim to the sky and use its splash damage to hit the group of mobs?

Generally, if you have a field of view slider (PC/current gen consoles, which is a given if you’re OP10) and increase that the aim low technique works pretty well. And if you have questions about the Hail, this guide was written by one of the Hail’s most vocal supporters.

ARs are not generally the best weapons for Gaige. Pistols (the ricochet Fibber is wildly OP), shotguns (I like multi barrel Jakobs, but really any shotgun will do), and SMGs are pretty typical choices for her. If you’re just trying to diversify your ammo consumption then any of the ones you covered should work. Are you not built for Anarchy with Close Enough?

I missed this on the first read. Where did you hear that? Slagged enemies take increased damage from all sources (unless the enemy in question is a slag infused enemy). All elements, environmental, every damage type is buffed by slag.

Ummm, a slagged normal enemy takes 3X damage from explosive damage in UVHM. Idk where you got this info, but it’s incorrect.

Unless it’s a case such as an enemy that spawned as a slagged variation like @paulothead pointed out

Some combination of both. You could practice with it until you get the gist of how far down to aim to connect your shots. With gaige, anarchy and close enough makes it so you could just fire as many rounds around your enemies general position as possible (in this case, a high arc assures that each shot will split and effectively double your output)

yeah, I am just trying to diversify my ammo consumption, and don’t use that 1000+ ammo seems wasteful.

Just tried on target dummy, I was really wrong how explosive works. Thanks for pointing out to me.

One more question, what SMG is good for gaige? I only use slagga and florentine for utility purpose.

Yeah, I have misconception how explosive works

I’m glad I could be helpful in even a small way. As far as SMGs go I like the Lascaux. It’s NE so there’s no element matching, but it has zero recoil and a high fire rate that really puts damage out with some Anarchy on it. Once you’ve got you’re Anarchy up (and specced the Better Half for good measure, although it’s not necessary) almost anything Bandit is great. A Bone Shredder comes in all elements and has great base damage, Tattlers are nice in her hands as well, and an on level Slagga should kill lots of stuff on its own. I like Maliwan SMGs too because their shallow mags are conducive for stacking Anarchy and the DOTs are good for keeping shields down and slowing down health regen even if they don’t kill on their own.

I have found the Emperor to be a good SMG, as it burst remain tight even with some Anarchy stacked.
The Bitch also works, as do Hyperion Plasma Casters.

As mentioned, Bandit unique as the Tattler or the Bone Shredder are also good as the good fire rate and multi pellets have good synergy with Close Enough.

Hellfire is also fabulous in elemental builds, and if you are into Little Big Trouble try the Florentine for slagging.
