You enckunter the Orbatron twice over thr course of TPS; once in "A New Direction"when you bribe the Customs Clappy to allow you into Concordia.
In this case, it seems to just calm him down and relax him to the point where he doesn’t care about his programmed duties.
Like someone who has just had a few drinks, or smoked some of a certain substsnce, or taken some sort of anti anxiety medication.
The second time you encounter the Orbatron is during one of the “Ego” missions in the Clappy DLC.
In this case, it seems to turn the Clappy in question into a crazy, binge & purge-ing, addictive personality party maniac.
So why does it affect these two Clappies so differently?

Maybe the first time he has only used it occasionally, but the second time he has become more addicted, resulting is the more aggressive personality.
Or maybe he has a lot of stress these days…

It’s a reference from an old Woody Allen movie called “Sleeper.”

Oh, awesome!
I need to rewatch Sleeper!
I only saw it once and it was a long time ago.
Very cool!
Also, Bender kicks ass.
I almost confused the Orbatron with the Orgasmatron, also from Sleeper.
