Finally! First Max-Level Toon

Hello fellow Vault Hunters!

I am a rapidly approaching middle age type of dude, may i ask your indulgence to briefly introduce my general situation and background before asking for some pointers. PS4 player by the by, before any further rambling. So, I was quite a veteran at Borderlands 1, me and 3 of my friends would commonly LAN together, but I haven’t been playing BL2 for longer than a couple of months. Had the game for over a year but was on a League of Lengends kick and basically forgot i had a console… But i digress.
My first attempt was Gaige but I got her to level 50 and realized i had relied far too much ob Deathtrap once i got to UVHM. So i have Maya level 80 finally as of Thursday. OP 1’d so far. My gear is a mixed bag, , and due to my brand new newbiness, i am uncertain of how to proceed with furthering my progress. So far by the best DPS I’ve been able to muster is with the. Toothpick/Mouthwash combo, which is rather sad since i have outleveled some amazing items on my playthrough. Generally I’ve run L.Siren as it’s the only legendary COM I’ve been able to get consistently so far :\ , and my skill tree seems mostly unremarkable to me. I don’t know how to screen shot but I’ve 36 in Motion (no capstone), playing around with Fleet atm but not deadset on maintaining… 28 on Harmony with +3 in Lifetap and 5 in Elated as the two apex skills of that tree… Again unsure if i intend to keep them. Other than that of course I have the typical Cataclysm tree w 4/5 in Immolate. Willing to tinker with it as needed Fleet seems fun but not practical in a lot of areas. So there’s an overly long synopsis on the Skill tree at the moment.
I apologize if my post is inappropriate due to some obscure etiquette or my senility, but onto the meat of this questionable feast… I’ve struggled quite a bit in UHVM, even with Ruin for EZ Slag, Converge, and other Siren part 2 hijinx. Only lately have I felt as if i am beginning to get basic things fown, such as what mob to PL, duck and cover strategies, hell even moving my visibility to 100 from 70 as default… I had to cheese the warrior on TVHM, Hector, that silly “raid boss” at the end of Captain Scarlett, and other notable “cheesable” fights, my to my chagrin. I can’t beat Terra or Invincible Douche Pete despite about 10-20 attempts so far. I have some alright OP1 gear but the prospect of reframing for advancing OP levels has me uncertain…

Hard Unkempt Harold, Toothpick, Cutting Edge Bitch, Potential Butcher, and an Energizing Fibber are the guns i regularly carry, and i have some “okay” OP 1 stuff in the bank. A Maggie, a Corrosive Norfleet, a Restricting slag Conference Call, Plump Kerblaster, and a truly awful gun I’m pissed i grinded for called a Swift Hail (slag) x(. Carry a Bee and Neogenator as my go to shields only here lately, before that i was stuck on Turtle Shields for the majority of my BL2 hours. Is there any “good farms” to recommend, skill setups, etc to help me solo Terra and Pyro Pete BEFORE i reset playthru?? I dont have s Firehawk anymore mine was level 65 or so and had no Element besides. Idk how I’m gonna manage to farm elemental variants  no pimpernal either though i do have a Fire Lyuda banked as well as a Hot Mama.

This is my first forum post ANYWHERE even Reddit i appreciate y'alls kind indulgence in any advice :)

For builds and gear, i let others help you on that since my builds are unconventional.

But for raiding, I am your guy.

For Terra:
Build
Cataclysm: Foresight, Cloudkill, Reaper, Ruin.
Motion - ward, accelrate, fleet, quicken.
Harmony, Mind’s eye, Recompense, Sustenance.
The rest is based on your preference.

Gear:
Toothpick - will work, pair it with a Bee,
Grog nozzle/swift hail - will give you some healing,
bitch/conference call - since that is a good tentacle killer.
any shock weapons you have that have unlisted projectile otherwise the Harold will work
Bee
Legendary Siren
Chain Lightning/Tesla
Moutwash relic.

Strategy:
Stay on the rock (no shame on that we all do it). Keep Terra slag and shoot, the beam tentacles is annoying, so dispatch those if you can. try to finish terra before the fire phase otherwise switch to a fire immune shield and healthgate to keep you alive. then after the masher phase remember there is a wormhole attack by Terra, hide again in the rock.

Pete
Build
Same build as Terra might work.

Gear:
any shock weapons you have that have unlisted projectile otherwise the Harold will work
Grog nozzle/swift hail - will give you some healing,
Tresspasser/Amigo Sincero - you need this to take off Pete’s helmet otherwise you will run out of ammo.
Bee
Legendary Siren
Chain Lightning/Tesla
Sheriff’s Badge/

Strategy:
First time I killed him is on the Ledge Trick. Here is Kurt on how to get up on the Ledge.

Don’t forget to summon Pete first.

If you do not want glitches, just keep your bee up circle the map and hide in the scaffolds/pillars when he is about to do his nova (took me a while to learn the patterns). rinse if you get the damage over time.

Could you reformat your post without the ``` ? It’s pretty tough reading that block.

Welcome by the way! And always listen to @nat_zero_six (except when it comes to YT links :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Very sorry I’m on Mobile as my computer hara-kiri’d a few weeks back… I humbly apologize for the monstrous deformity I’ve birthed here in the forums, and am attempting to modify it post haste!

I’ve managed to get him up on the ledge last time i attempted it… But his DoTs were still getting me. I have done some exhaustive research on this fight but nearly every one recommends the Sandhawk which i am stubbornly resisting going after… Main goal is to have the 'cheves and some Seraph Crystals on tap when i attempt OP2 +. Thank you for the input I’ve read many of your guides and have 2 of them bookmarked  many thanks and much respect for the high quality content you contribute!

if you can’t survive with dots, use it to your advantage.

kill him with Recompense Phaselock (and phaselock related skills) and Cloud Kill. you need a grog or a rubi will work, haven’t tried it with other moxxi.

Let’s see… I have a Grog Nozzle and a “Swift Hail” but it’s slag element and I’m not entirely sure but i think the prefix makes it have a really weird and hard to manage upward arc that makes it hard to aim properly… Excellent suggestion on the reflect dmg skill, gonna give it a shot.

2nd time just now i got him on the ledge but he jumped down o.o thought that glitch was solid… Anyhow i digress. I am at him now and currently don’t wish to trek back yet… I have a purple Shock AR and energizing Fibber as my only shock elements atm. Gonna keep trying, and will letcha know if your sage advice results in a win!

it works still at level 80. recompense alone the kill will take you 20-25 minutes on the old 72. so i combine that with melee and roid shield and it takes me only 10-15 minutes to get the kill. you are practically invincible so success rate is high.

use it.

if that is a shock ricochet fibber then that will work for Pete.

I don’t believe my Fibber is a ricochet, it’s white txt says "3000% Dmg + 50 % love :\

Nonetheless your input just now helped me secure my very first Raid Boss!! HOORAY! Thanks so much… Allow me to flesh out this awkward loss of BL raiding virginity for you…

I forgot to spec into Ruin, was actually really sloppy point allocation by me e.e thank goodness i had a Blue rarity Magic Missle in my pocket! I ledged (clumsily still missing 2/3 grenade jumps at this point), Amigo’d his helmet off, then put 1200 rounds of Patrol Blaster AR rifle into him while sporadically PL and slagging with replenishing grenade mod. He jumped onto the ledge, i jumped off, and realized that line-of-sight prevents his Nova Dots from proccing. So he walkee between two pillars, ammo for AR was used up, switched relics Aggression 33% SMG dmg, Fibbered the remaining quarter of his shield off, and patiently crit locked him with my Family Friendly SMG. It took a really long time and i nearly ran out of ammo but i got it. Drops were another Slagga and a Sticky Longbow Slag Type O Negative??? Looks like a good grenade mod to me!!!

You just became my favorite hero today sir/madame thanks so much for the pointers.

I have 620 Torc tokens… Off topic but i should probably save them for the best OP difficulty i can reach??

If i can figure out how I’ll definitely follow you and chuck upvotes your way like a madman. I’m too bushed to give Terra a try tonight I’ll grind him out after work tomorrow. Much gratitude!!

Just in case you haven’t figured these out yet…

The Hail’s normal firing pattern is an arc, which give the gun a bit of a learning curve to use well. Once you get used to it tho, it can be VERY powerful in the right hands.

Do not believe the card stats…it’s called the Fibber for a reason.

And welcome to the forum!

Part of the problem is the Swift prefix. This increases the arc and trajectory which makes it hard to use. Hate to say it but it’s probably the worst prefix for that gun.

Maya’s Accelerate and Zer0’s Velocity have a similar effect.

I did a guide a while ago. Forewarned it’s unnecessarily long :upside_down_face:

No apologies necessary! I am fond of exhaustive information and compiled research… Thanks for the link and i look forward to perusing more of your content!

Thanks! I’ve researched the Hail and i attempt to use it when feasible… Mine has an additional arc learning curve due to the “swift” prefix and Maya’s Accelerate skill. I believe the Slag element makes it less viable for difficult content as well but am not certain of it yet, just playing with it for now to acclimate myself to it.

The Fibber is nice, no idea which it is and at OP1 doesn’t seem to matter much.
