Hi there everyone, the first post ever here but I’m really curious about this subject.
In the Borderlands VIP reward system, they’ve set up the following “Claim at least eight VIP reward weapons to unlock a special Legendary Maliwan gun for Borderlands 3.”, which we all know.
My question was, in what way do the devs mean “unlock”, does this mean, get it here or never in the game? Or is it like the guns you buy for 4000 points, you get the gun at the start of the game and that’s it? Because if it’s the second case, I’d rather wait and see what’s coming up in season 2 to unlock.
But would like some clarity on this if anyone can give that.
We are uncertain what it means, but the gun will be in BL3. Season 1, 2, and 3 will all count towards our ability to get the BL3 Mali Gun. Rewards from S1 will still be Purchasable in S2 and s3
There’s a link on that page that takes you to a page like this. I got one weapon from that weird one-reel slot machine, but the rest seem like you just buy them with your reward points? I also got one from that weird online RNG from following the E3 broadcasters, but it doesn’t show up here.
I’m torn, because I’m not sure what the rest of the ‘catalog of things I can get with these points is’, and don’t want to burn them early. I have ~17K points, but that’s only four of these weapons. I would hate to drain my account to only get part way to an unknown thing for BL3 to find out there’s more. Is this weapon something that might drop in the game anyway? Are there other rewards that are only available through this point process?
People assume it might be a weapon that drops in BL3 anyway, but there’s no way of knowing. It is totally cool to wait til Season 3 and have all the options available to you before you decide. They say Season 1 will stay available all three seasons. And all three seasons, including 3 Weaponator rolls, will apply to the “redeem enough for this Mali Leg”
If you want that weapon in BL3 you need to spent at least 16k points (4 weapons x 4k each) if you have preorder of the game. For total 8 slots the best way is 3x weaponizer (free), 1x preorder bonus (“free”), 4x weapons from Season 1-3 (16k points).
Thats actually smart advise, I don’t know how I didn’t come up with that, but will definitely wait till the end of season 3 to get that weapon, thanks man!
But yeahhh, would love for the devs to make this a Pre-order only, because to be honest, the other pre-order bonuses aren’t all that great…
