At the Main Menu, choose SELECT CHARACTER, not NEW GAME.

The choices for Create New Level 30 character are at the end of the list of characters in the Load Character menu.

I’m getting the same loadout each time I create the character.

Maya only gets a measly Lascaux? Anybody can get one of those. That’s why it’s only one point in the Loot Hunt.

Everybody gets a Blue Red Text weapon, and one of the items (Shield, Grenade, or Relic) is Blue rarity.

Too bad Claptrap’s stash mission is blocked. But now it is a Level 30 difficulty

With the new DLC you have the option of creating a character boosted to level 30. You go to character select and there are 6 new options, one for each class boosted.

No Vault Hunter’s Relic for the boosted character, but they still get a Contraband Sky Rocket. The original four still get their Special Edition Head and Skin.

The Level 1 characters that are created without boosting still get the relic, head, skin, Gearbox weapons, and ECHO Recording.

Sal gets a freaking hive?! You know the really hard to farm hive?! Meanwhile Maya doesn’t even get a sandhawk

EDIT: Probably not a sandhawk if they only kept to the unique of base game which make me sad since there’s no no other good unique (blue) Smg’s.

I was also underwhelmed by the weapons BoostedMaya got.
The group of greens and a (in my opinion) useless Lescaux (however it’s spelled) is not a set of weapons I’d go fight the Warrior with (your starting game point) or the new DLC.
One needs to farm a bunch before proceeding, or transfer weapons, this load-out is not a recipe for success.

And while it seems obvious I also want to ask that this does mean they start from TVHM, right?

Answered this on another thread, but may as well put it here too.
No, you do not start in TVHM. You start in NVHM with all story mode missions complete up to Talon of God, so you still have to finish the Warrior.
You also start with a bunch of sub-impressive green weapons and (for Maya) the (to me) useless Lascaux (or however you spell it).
You have 26 skill points to spend.
You have two bumps to all ammo SDUs and 12 more eridium, again, in typical play I’d be far above that, time to farm eridium.
You get $240,000 in cash, which is OK.

Oh, and since your boosted character has done NO sides that means simple things like the Sanctuary intro missions (like Clappy’s stash, meeting Zed, Tannis, and so on) are not done yet. Urgle. Let’s see if they’ve made those cut scenes skippable though…NOPE, still have to put up with those cut scenes for the 1,000th time.

Ah for crying out loud!
And you cannot open Clappy’s stash! Since talon of God is the pending mission, when you talk to Clappy he advances that mission and the Secret Stash mission is NOT available.
Man oh man, now I really need to go farm to get some actually useful gear to kill the Warrior or the new DLC. My gifted weapons are NOT appropriate for the tasks she starts with, jeez, not even a sniper or CAT comm.
That’s sloppy to me.

Oh, and the game is playing catch-up on challenges. When I opened inventory nothing happened, but hitting the Zed vendors for a good comm triggered the first 3 levels of For the horde based on the money you were gifted.
I’ma go farm the BNKR to see what I can get, or maybe do the snowman with this junky gear.
Actually I’ll do Good bad Mordy, it’s set at level 30 when you join the game.
Now the Friendship Gulag, and I have NO corrosive weapons. Arg, I’ll go farm vendors or something, I really feel hamstrung with this boosted character.
And yes, I’ma gonna keep whining about it

Just for knowing’s sake, why the lascaux hate?
With the flying prefix it’s essentially a budget sandhawk with the added bonus of being usable while not ADS, and of all characters Maya really makes that thing shine.
SMG shotgun has always been great by me, at least

My complaint is that it is so easy to get a Lascaux, and that makes it a wasted gift from Gearbox.

An on level Lascaux does work, especially with a Cat com.

Another trick that can be used is to do Marcus’ Rock, Paper, Genocide: mission and don’t turn in the element that you want to use for the Talon of God. If read-only farming is acceptable to you, then it can have the parts that you prefer.

Personal preference.
For me it’s similar to the Infinity or any other gun that has a variable staged bullet pattern.
I cannot reliably crit with it, that’s the main reason why I never use it and why I farm Hellfire’s and B-tches, so I can get my crits in.
Fine, maybe, for large mobs, but not for the style I play, so I never carry the Lasc.
