Playing Krieg past lvl 50+

I’m wondering if I can definitely do UVHM while playing Krieg in Bloodlust/Mania spec? I won’t be able to add friends because I’m using Mac unless there’s mac users out there… thanks.

If you spec into release the beast(capstone middle tree) Kreig can be played without gear, so once you get used to it UVHM won’t be a problem

I’m already fully specced with Mania, I’m working on getting Bloodlust specced, if I want to do that, I’ll need the good to best shield for that, which would you recommend?

Best shield for a non hellborn kreig will almost always be the rough rider. Increases max health, always depleted, and 30% damage resistance

Alright, so which boss that Krieg can definitely solo drops it? I’m currently playing TVHM but went back to normal mode to farm some $ and eridiums to max out my weapon upgrades.

The Rough Rider drops from The Bulwark in Hammerlock’s DLC. In lieu of that, an adaptive shield boosts health and is an excellent stand in. Also the Flame of the Firehawk is a natural.

Here’s the list of best Kreig gear, but you can use whatever you want. It also lists where to find everything

Krieg has always been a blast leveling up once i had Release the Beast, i won’t lie. If you manage to get your hands in a good sickle ( leg sickle past lv 61 is like… god mode ), a Crunch class mod boosting strip the flesh and a decent barbarian class mod for when you need to use boomsticks, things will be easy enough. I highly suggest going into Fuel the Blood + Buzz Axe Bombardier as soon as possible, bloodbath can wait for that matter. Always look for good explosive weaponry and remember that a good explosive fastball can serve you well for at least 7/8 levels, i used my lv 50 one until lv 60 or so

I have maybe one or two levels to go before reaching Fuel the Blood and Buzz Axe Bombardier, however I’m seeing many Krieg users are going Mania/Hellborn? Should I go in that path once I end up to 50?

I kinda think it’s top tier for Hellborn Krieg too, but that’s not what we’re talking about. Krieg is gear indifferent. Health stack, rock some good explosive gear, and get you some slag tools. Check the link @Piemanlee dropped for the creme de la creme, but don’t be tricked into thinking that’s all you can/should use. My suggestion is to start UVHM by running missions in Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt until Palling Around becomes available and complete that to open the Rough Rider farm. Because it’s not about shield capacity you can probably go quite some time before upgrading that piece of gear, I used a level 50 until 60 or so before I started to see higher health boosts on adaptives that dropped. Pieces of gear I found indispensable include: slag bouncing Betty nades, Slagga, Harold, Kerblaster, Spitters, Fastballs, 3 and 4 barrel Torgue shotguns. The Slagga+Fastball combo is a big one for when you spec Bloodsplosion. COM is your choice, I like Blood Blisters, Flesh Crunch, and the Legendary Reaper.

It’s a different game when you spec that way. They’re both perfectly viable, and both unique experiences I’d recommend trying. (My preference is to spec Bloodlust/whichever other tree you feel like. I have a Hellborn/Bloodlust in the higher 60s right now that is a blast but doesn’t use the Rampage very often.)

I never really played Mania/Hellborn build, but it seems perfectly viable. Probably you should wait to have the points to get Fire Fiend which will give you a chance to ignite enemies, thus yourself, and get the bonuses from Hellborn while in RtB mode, efore you spec down to hellborn. If you want to go that way be sure to have Delusional Damage and Numbed Nerves aswell as the already mentioned almighty Rough Rider ( imho, best shield for Krieg no matter what ). Idk, but maybe, Mania/hellborn is a lil bit more reliant on specific gears, for example you will really want a Leg Torch or Sickle, a reliable way to set yourself on fire, so storm front/pandemic/slag something, but I won’t say I’m saying absolute truth there

I’m going to address this question directly because I only alluded to it earlier. What you should do is build into the style you’re most comfortable with. Hellborn is a skill tree that makes Krieg the best elemental weapon user in the game (my opinion), but it requires you to be on fire and therefore requires a certain amount of micromanagement that you don’t need as much with the other two trees. Bloodlust requires you to pay attention to kill skills, but it’s less risky than setting yourself on fire. Plus, if you use Elemental Empathy it can really mess up your Release the Beast timing. Which brings me to what I consider the most important point, which is that speccing into the Hellborn tree before you have the points for Elemental Empathy is more suicidal than the average emo teenager nursing a fresh heartbreak.

TL;DR: every Krieg build is viable into endgame, you should try different things until you find what works best for you.

This 100% this! Try out everything and find what you enjoy the most.

Melee/bloodspolsion kreig is insanely fun. Sickle com and a way to slag stuff and you’re set to nuke the game

If I do Mania/Blood, which shield would I need? I know Mania/Hellborn def needs FotF (which I will get after I beat Warrior) I’m level 48 now with so much farming last night. Still not enough Eris to max out my weapon upgrades yet. Absolute shields only, don’t wanna run everywhere for multiple shields for certain specs.

The Rough Rider is the gold standard, but you don’t really need it. You can use adaptives until you get to the Bulwark in UVHM. The important thing is the health boost because built for melee it will be down most of the time anyway. My guiding light in UVHM was when I saw adaptives with higher health boosts than my Rough Rider was when I went for a new one. If you get good parts that could be a pretty long time.

I just respecced at lvl 48 into Mania/Hellborn, however I don’t have grog to keep myself alive when I “ignite” myself in fire often, should I farm whichever boss for the grog thing soon as I can or wait until I head to UVHM? Only three more weapon upgrades left before I’m maxed.

The Grog is a mission item from a mission in the Tina Dlc, which is called more or so " the beard makes the man " gaven by Claptrap in the mines of avarice. If you don’t complete this mission and leave it active, every time you enter the game a Grog nozzle will randomize in your backpack.
Usually the grog isn’t really needed before uvhm, for the previous modes a Slag rubi will do the work well enough. However, as soon as you hit uvhm, do the Tina DLC to the point you get the grog, so you can have it easily without worrying your gears dropping off later on in uvhm, and you will keep it until you reset the playthrough

Would you mind posting you current spec? It would help us talk about this in a more definite way.

Another thing to consider is that the Grog doesn’t persist across playthroughs. If you get it in TVHM you won’t have it in NVHM or UVHM. At level 50 with RtB specced I never actually needed Moxxi heals. UVHM was almost easy for me speeced that way. The big issue was slag, and I used bouncing betties. I was also specced into Bloodbath, which kept me flush with nades once I got to Bloodsplosion. If you’re going Mania/Hellborn, which I don’t have any first hand experience with myself, I suspect the Grog would have limited usefulness. If it spawns with a blade that would be helpful, but when you Rampage you put your gear away so you wouldn’t be able to heal with it anyway. You may not want to spec Elemental Empathy because of the difficulty with Release the Beast timing. There are some Mania/Hellborn builds in the master build list for Krieg, you may want to look at some of those to get some insight into build and gear. Also, if he doesn’t mind the ping, I think @xmngr rolls that spec. Maybe he has more helpful advice than I do.

I roll Mania/Hellborn with RtB and EE, and it’s kind of tricky to not ■■■■ up RtB cycles while on fire. I’d suggest you run Bloodlust/Mania until you reach 57 so you can spec into Elemental Empathy

I run this (though I run 72/op8)

I’ve decided to reroll to Salvador, Krieg’s getting alot harder to survive nearing the end, I’m at level 49, gonna hit 50 for the achievement then leave Krieg alone for good, not sure how many more quests I have until Warrior. Can’t believe I wasted so much golden keys on him and getting much much harder to stay alive.
