Does Axton’s Grenade damage buffs affect the damage imparted by the Manly Man Shield? I am trying to maximize Axton’s melee damage output via the Rapier and aforementioned shield. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

Not sure about grenade damage, but I use it with Axton, and no matter what I threw at it, it was still softer than I like. The UCP fixed this for me, but I don’t remember if it came with grenade damage or not.

The Love Thumper nova gets Axton’s grenade boosts. No idea about the Manly Man.

No idea, but if you really want to play melee Axton, get a love thumper(preferably inflammable) and don’t spec into his shield skills

The explosive damage is equal to 40% of the character’s base melee damage. Melee skills, relics, and weapon bonuses do not increase the shield’s potency.
it is bad, i tried it with my cursed run, i started with krieg, then axton - cannot get them to work, luckily it work on Maya (due to her survival skills).

yeah i seen molmf does it suck entry on it. if you hold a melee weapon or not (bladed grog/rapier) it still boost the same damage,63,472 which is 40% of 158,678 (base melee damage at OP8).
deception boost it though to around 88k depends on the time left.

So the only way to boost Axton’s damage output can only be buffed by direct melee damage buffs from his various skill trees. Dang.

COMs that buff Impact should help, and there are Strength relics too, no?

yeah, you can go two ways for a melee axton,
1 is love thumper with using an impact grenadier com with +6 in impact plus explosive relic, bladed grog/rubi and rapier.
2 is using legendary engineer (boost in impact and battlefront plus added cooldown on the turret) with a hide and fire bone.
I prefer the 1st one mobbing, while for raiding i prefer the 2nd one.
