What is the remaster missing?

The remaster is here, just when I was about to give up hope. Blind squirrel did a pretty good job, too. The majority of the improvements just feel right. I would go as far to say that somehow they made it look even more like “borderlands” than any of the other games. However, it’s been a long time since 2009, and there are some pretty surprising things left out of the update. This thread isn’t for the little things (I already have one for that), just some big problems I see as worth adressing.

DLC FAST TRAVELS

I heard somewhere that this was intentional, but I also heard they couldn’t make it work for consoles or something. Anyone with more info would be appreciated. All I know is that if it was intentional, it was the wrong choice for Knoxx. Every other DLC is fine without them, but knoxx is set up so you basically have to go through a 10 minute interactive loading screen every time you want to do some side missions. You end up having to drive through the roads around 10 times to complete all of the quests, and god forbid you don’t want to finish the giant lance slaughterdome all at once. I almost always do side missions, but I never do them for knoxx, I do the bare minimum, every time.

SWAP STASH

I really couldn’t believe there wasn’t one included, it just seems like such a hard thing to miss. I really hate having to ask people to help transfer gear online.

Can you guys think of any other glaring things missing, or wrong? Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly grateful to have this remaster, and for free to boot. However, the best time to articulate these kind of problems isn’t 5 years down the road, it’s right now, when blind squirrel/gearbox are still investing time into the project. I don’t want to come off as nit-picking, I see these as legitimate problems that the definitive edition of borderlands 1 just shouldn’t have.

LAN play and the ability to reset your playthrough like BL2/TPS.

I’d like option to restart main story seperately for main game and DLCs, as well as restart optional missions from mission menu.

So like a more selective UVHM reset? I’d vote for that!

Not a feature, but more bugfixes for weapons and COMs.

The Backbag SDUs being guaranteed in PT2 and 2.5 rather than being permanently missable. Same for the Knoxx one in PT1 as well.

Visible skill boosts from mods added to skills would be a nice feature just like in Borderlands 2. You would actually see the exact benefits to your skills. Pity they didn`t upgrade that

Mordecai really got the shaft COMs wise. Gunslinger, hunter, ranger, peace keeper, half of his COMs are rather busted, or have skills that make no sense for the build.

It doesnt seem like a big deal until you are used to it. Same for skills that show on your screen when they are working (not just kill skills).

The quest markers for some things are still off. Just did the revolver mission and the last item, which is in the destroyed car, still has the diamond showing up under the shed. Only found it because I remembered where it was.

Oh, and the new distance indicator on your quest triangle is good, but they must measure meters differently on Pandora, not accurate.
Unless M stands for Moxxi Measure or something.

One thing the Remaster seems to have added is a box?

That box is definitely NOT there in the backwards compatible BL1 GOTY, but is in the Remastered GOTY (both XB1).

One more small thing;
The map still does not remember your last zoom level. I’m always zooming back out when I go to the map, would like it to remember.

This is idea when taking look back at the BL1 interface and seeing how there already is a list of all completed missions in menu. Everything listed, what’s seems to be left is to just add keybind to restart any of them. Silimar thing could be added to main story missions - restarting mission that’s in middle of mission chain would remove all of following missions after it. I think it would be awesome to have freedom to replay any mission. Also would be great for farming mission rewards.

I’d really hoped that the Knoxx DLC leveling bug thingy would be corrected…apparently not, unless my imported save (lvl 61 vs Knoxx @ lvl 50) is preventing the scaling.

For some reason, DLC3 just doesn’t start scaling with the rest of PT2. Once you get credits to roll for that DLC and turn in that mission it’ll scale, but not until then.

Not a bug, but it would be nice to change that.

It’s missing the Inspection mode, which lets you look at weapons and gear up close. It’s also missing the BL2 Runner driving mechanics and sprinting animation when holding a Repeater pistol.

The health regen for the runner is obviously not percentage based. It takes AGES for it to recover health. Id say its a pretty striking flaw, at least in endgame.

Hey, could you PM me? I need Borderlands 1 refreshers out my ass. That was worrying me too.

Basically, you can look at them on the card and in world to get a feel for them. It sucks, though. Would be the sickest feature ever.

The animation is the basic sprint animation in all UE3 games. If you notice, a lot of QOL mechanics and animations BL2 has aren’t here either. This is a rawer experience. Idk. They both have their benifits.

Besides that their max health in PT2 is very low, not scaling with the player. Car gets easily destroyed by anything.
