Twisted by Design

This thread is meant to show, tell, and discuss one of my personal favorite weapons, the twisted elemental smg. Most long timers know about them, but for anyone who doesn’t, a twisted smg is one which spawns with barrel3twisted and one of the 4 elements. I’m not interested in nonE smgs with the spiral firing pattern. Why is the twisted smg at the top of my cool list? Well because barrel3twisted grants a HUGE tech bonus for a non legendary part, a whopping +4. This is enough to turn a x1 weapon into a x3. Throw mag3 or mag5, or stock3 or stock5 into the mix and it’s quite possible to turn non legendary guns into x4 forth tier beasts. The downside to all this is that the twisted barrel is visually identical to barrel3 and other than tech, has the same stats. Which makes for some guess work, and knowing your parts to a degree that allows you to A/B successfully. One gun that is troublesome in particular is the Hellfire, as the accessory grants so much tech that no matter how tech deprived the gun is otherwise, will always be x4 fourth tier (combustion). Most good twisted smgs fall right into x3, with Maliwan easily gaining x4 with a techy part or 2. Anyways…I’m gonna run with that for now and show off a few of my own twisteds to get us started.

This is what twisted barrel does on nonE weapons. For those who don’t know. Cool thread @odiscordia :acmaffirmative:

Took me a while to dig this up…

Oh! I couldn’t find it cause I focused on Corkscrewing instead of twisting as a word :joy:. Gotta say, this development was a wild one, but now I wanna find an elemental one! Thanks for the help!

Not a problem. Twisters are kind of a speciality of mine. Above are a few of my favs

Oh I guess while you’re here…as I said before, visually twisted and regular barrel3 are the same. On a nonE, you just gotta fire a round to tell. On the E twisters, you’re looking for an obviously high tech tier. X3, X4. It’s seriously enough to change a gun from X1 to X3. It’s a little harder to tell on maliwans, but a good twisted maliwan will almost always be X4 and have a fourth tier prefix (erupting, pestilent, fulgurating, or combustion) if you find one you suspect, throw it up on here and I’ll confirm it for you

I’m super stoked now. My Lilly is hoping to use mostly Mali weapons, (not gonna lie, that’s just me. I have had double anarchy guns before and they’re cool and they rip through things, but they don’t complement my playstyle) and now I’m have stuff to hope for besides a Hellfire and a Tsunami

Also, the one gun you’re going to have a problem with is the hellfire. Hellfires have such a high amount of tech from the accessory, they’re always X4. And the tsunami too I suppose. Man I used to have a HX140 hyperion mat2 corrosive twisted stinger. It was my favorite hypo mat2 I’d ever found and I lost that MF

Wait. You mean those guns can come with this barrel? Oh wow.

Does this barrel affect elemental firing? Or does it just give them a deeper well?

Tsunamis are kinda meh actually. The nemesis blows them away

Oh yes indeed. They’re not part restricted. But good luck ever knowing 100% whether you got barrel3 or barrel3-T. Yes…deeper well I suppose. A good twisted tsunami might actually be worth using

Yeaah, I’m prepared to not love it, but someone made a Tsunami mod for BL2 and I loved that, so maybe I’ll enjoy it. I’m still playing around with ideas, I’m on the last leg of PT1

I have this little beast and I like to think it’s twisted…it certainly performs well enough, but I’ll never know.
