Farming the Greed

I’ve decided I’d like my Jakobs Zer0 to have a Greed. I’ve not gotten to this point in the mission yet but am pretty close.

My question is wheter or not it can be farmed. Troubled’s Jakobs guide says it cannot. However, the wiki states the following:

" Greed can be farmed by players re-entering The Leviathan’s Lair, and either signing in a second player, or having another player join the game or simply commit suicide as soon as they enter the lair. This will cause characters to spawn within The Leviathan, regardless of mission progress, and trigger a save point"

Not sure I quite understand the above procedure but can probably figure it out if it’s viable. Anyone have any experience with this?

From a practical recollection. If you kill Roscoe and then let Scarlett drop it and check the parts, just immediately quit without saving then and there (dashboard on console) or alt tabbing out of your game on PC and closing the game tab, you can repeat the fight when you go back into the game because zoning into that area for the fight saves at the door just before. You can repeat that process ad nauseum.

Thanks! That’ll work.

Thing is I’m at OP2 right now(kinda stuck, but getting closer) and may want to get it again at a higher OP level.

That said, after a bit more research I think I found the answer and what the wiki says should work.

Remember you get the mission a second time. You can leave it sitting if you think you might want a higher OP level version.

But do you have to kill Roscoe a second time, or just defeat the Leviathan? Also, I know I’ve ended up back inside the beast by travelling to the illuminated spot in Wurmwater. Just not sure if you get another chance at the Greed that way. (It would be fun if it kept respawning, like a Lascaux.)

I am 90% sure it starts with you getting eaten by the Leviathan in Wurmwater - so yes, you run into Roscoe and Scarlett.

I’ve never gotten that far in the DLC. I’ve gotten as far as to get a set of Sandhawks. I was going to continue and play through the rest of it.
I was unaware that you get the mission a second time…not quite sure how that works, but I may just wait for a higher OP level, but i’m also thinking of doing a reset and playing Jakobs Zer0 through everything from the beginning. So there’s that.

When you finish the story, Shade gives you a mission to do it all again (it’s actually from Magnys Lighthouse) :

Awesome! I understand now. That’s very helpful and probably the route I’ll go. I don’t know if I’ll use Jakob’s Zer0 much past OP2 to be honest. OP2 feels just right at this point, not too hard but challenging enough to keep me on my toes. That said on my last couple Peak runs I’ve come pretty close to unlocking OP3.

Just doing this now.

After completing the main DLC story and quitting restarting, the light house beam is in place but you can’t trigger Leviathan. Picking up the mission from the bounty board in Oasis resets the light beam, so you have to head to Magnys Lighthouse, where I’ve just arrived.

Stay tuned…

Yeah, the game gives you the pieces so you just need to install and activate, then fight through the mercenaries and kill Lieutenants White and Hoffman, then back to Wurmwater. FT to Wurmwater and head south from Scarlett’s ship. Once swallowed, go through the entrance to Leviathan’s Lair and save/quit on the other side in the initial area by the vending machines. This means you can restart at the same spot if you subsequently force quit and restart. Jumping down triggers the Scarlett/Roscoe cut-scene. If you don’t like the parts, force-quit and restart. It looks like you don’t trigger a save until you evacuate the stomach (ew…)

This is awesome to know, but dumb-dumb me hosed it up I think. That said, Greed with a Torgue grip performs admirably. Just took it through southpaw and it did well.
With a Jakobs grip and Dastardly prefix I’m sure it’s quite deadly. No worries I know now and I’ll get it one of these days.

See, I tried to give the gun to a mule, which I did, but when said mule saved and quit…well…too many beers and didn’t think that through.

My own greed wrecked my chances for a perfect Greed.

I understand. Meanwhile, here’s something for the gear-heads on the forums to debate - which would you pick?

Not that I know anything, but I would take the 2nd one. First one is fugly…the second one is the one I wanted to get. Of course I would prefer the Dastardly prefix, but I’ve decided that I put parts over prefix in most cases.

I’m curious, because I’m sure I’m missing something…why would this even be a debate? I would think #2 would be a no-brainer. Other than the mag size I don’t see any way the first would be better. That said, I’m here to learn…teach me. :grinning:

That Bandit grip is an atrocity. The reload speed would be enough for me to avoid it.

The Jakobs grip is beautiful, increased damage, improved reload, good mag size. Sure it’ll kick a bit but that’s what allegiance relics are for.

The Jakobs grip 100%. I don’t know parts so I do percentages differences, which are roughly about 35% faster reload, only 9% less fire rate, 10% less mag, and near 6% more damage. Accuracy difference is negligible.

Should be an easy choice.

Everybody seems to have a bad case of Greed right now…

You don’t need to do anything special to farm the Greed. Roscoe is a respawning, farmable boss. You can re-enter The Leviathan’s Lair as many times as you want. Roscoe and Captain Scarlett are both there. You can kill Roscoe as many times as you like, and Scarlett will drop the Greed.

So wait, I can go back now, even since I’ve finished the DLC and they will be there? Because I’ve gone back and they aren’t there…but I’m likely doing something wrong.

Wouldn’t mind getting one with the Dastardly prefix…
