So I have been watching videos a bit and reading what I can find, but I am not having any luck.
I am at Tundra Express Farm area…I can get 2-3 super badass varkids to spawn every time but I have not had a single ultimate badass varkid spawn yet.
What I basically do is I port in and run all around the field and get a whole bunch of them to change into adults, then I run and jump into the bard and every time they disappear on my map I shoot a barn wall and the red dots reappear. After a few minutes I have a bunch of badasses and then a few minutes later I usually end up with at least 2-3 super badasses and that where they stop.
Am I suppose to do anything more to make them change 1 more time? I want to try to farm some quasar grenades and I think these are the only guys that drop them as part of their loot pool.

There’s a few ways… One of them is Creature Slaughter, who has a UBV right at the end. Just ROM save from the last round or dashboard quit every time you kill him. Another is Caustic Caverns, where people love to spawn tubby varkids and vermi solo, since it’s got perfect sorts of conditions (crystalisks to keep the varkids busy mostly, and three varkid spawn pools to boot in a large open area). I’m assuming you know what you’re doing here… You gotta keep the varkids busy and it takes a while to get them to go through to UB, since unlike Godliaths, it’s an evolution roll, not a kill an enemy roll. Give up and restart when they won’t do it. Don’t wait around too much. But do be patient after super badass.

Okay, and BTW, like Triple O, varkid evo is a VERY low roll. I believe it’s about 1%. And unlike Triple O, you can’t magically reset them so you can just roll the dice again (that takes 96 freaking eridium of course) You have about… One chance. When they won’t do it, you gotta reset. It’s just the way it works.
UBA Varkids is more or less impossible to get when you’re alone. Except in the Creature Slaughter, ofc. I’ve been playing since the game was new, and I’ve never had one spawn. Only way to greatly increase your chances is by bringing friends, or if you’re playing on PC, use the 4-player difficulty slider. Gearbox doesn’t like it when we talk about third party software, but as I recall, they didn’t mind this. It just increases the difficulty and spawn chances to what you would have if there were 2-4 players on the set.
It’s also possible that the UCP has a fix for this, but then again… PC only.

They can spawn. I’ve seen morons on YouTube do it all the time, PS4, no slider. (I think the Handsome Collection does have the Hyperious and MG 4P glitch even if it’s patched on other versions, I don’t think this is well known)
It’s about a 1% chance, and like Triple O, it’s a one time roll. If they don’t do it, they’re not going to. And they don’t freaking do it ever. I actually have used the dashboard trick to get Vermi in Creature Slaughter, and that, my friend, was an aneurysm of waiting. And dying. ■■■■, Kreig. You’re immortal.
“Evolution Chance - Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode
The chances seems to be even higher, but the exact percentages are currently unknown.”
In my limited experience, I’ve gotten the best results in Caustic Caverns. It seems to me the aggro from crysalisks or threshers helps a lot to spur evolution.

That’s like, WAAAY higher than I remember. Well heck, that’s not an impossible farm. No freaking wonder people on PS4 exclaim how easy the Caustic Method is. Brb getting a Norfleet

Just to prove it’s very possible, and why not
Here’s two spawns. This is the first one, got it to evo quickly.
IIRC varkid evolution was sped up in a patch or hot fix- can’t remember exactly. However, the intended result was that the varkids evolve to their next stage faster and if one hasn’t evolved in a set amount of time kill it to allow for a new varkid to try to evolve.
As far as the UBV’s go, I wouldn’t say they’re too uncommon. I usually end up killing a super or ultimate when I go through the caverns looking for tubbies.
If you’re just after a quasar, you might want to try the respawning varkids during the crawmerax mission, because they skip a couple evolution steps. Just remember to kill all the elemental ones that don’t progress further.
I guess I’m just unlucky then! Oh, well… At least I get frequent drops from BNK-3R. No, wait… That bastard has never dropped anything, except for a couple of heads. Unlucky status confirmed!
Heads drop much less than other loot, in my experience.
I got about 50 bitchs and shams when I farmed bunker for his Shrapnel Slayer head(on tvhm of course), and not a single other class head than what I wanted. If you get those commonly that’s not bad luck at all
