Mission Level Chart

Has anyone done a list or chart of the levels or range of levels that missions can be accepted in NVHM and TVHM? The Wiki looks wrong on much of this and I occasionally see people posting that they discover variations.
Thanks

I included a summary of the levels I found for NVHM in my guide. Note that I deliberately ran under and over-levelled characters to get the ranges where possible. I’d have to go through and pull out the numbers, but I also have a spreadsheet at home with most of the information in it. I haven’t done the same for TVHM, but probably could do (or collaborate on doing so.)

Yeah, that was the first place I looked but still only see the list at the end which shows the missions that will scale to 30. What am I missing?

They’re all buried in the individual posts, whenever the titlea of the missions and side quests are listed for a specific map. I’ll pull the raw data from the spreadsheet and post it here tonight some time - it’s on my laptop, which is at home today.

Much appreciated but I hate to make work for you. I just thought someone may have done that in the past. Kind a like the loot spreadsheet. I’ve been attempting to get caught up on everyone’s progress in the “You Will Die” challenge and that combined with my own challenge got me thinking about what the game level limitations really are.

Have you checked the wiki entries? It’s not as convenient as a spreadsheet would be, but I seem to remember the entries for the missions having level ranges. Maybe the entries for the maps do too?

Edit: just read the OP more closely. I’m a dumbass. Ignore me, the heat in the northeast has boiled my brains into some kind of mush.

If there’s a specific reason to why you want to know these levels, then perhaps we can be of assistance. Missions don’t becoma available when you reach a certain level. They are unlocked once you pass certain stages in the game.

The only mission that scales to level 30, that I’m aware of, is the mission “#Hyperion contract #873”. Lynchwood will therefore also scale to level 30 when you do this mission. You can do this mission anywhere you choose, as long as you kill bandits, but all other areas will be at a lower level.

The Dust levels up a few times during the campaign, but it never reaches 30. Unfortunately, this is bugged in TVHM, so it will remain at level 37 throughout the campaign. Mc Nally is the exception to this rule. He will be at a higher level when you face him.

Well… That was a whole lot of rambling that you might already know. In that case… Sorry! :upside_down_face:

A few notes particularly on the TVHM side quests:

  • The numbers shown are for the quests as they become available; obviously, any side quest can go to level 50 if you wait until after completing main story to accept it.
  • There’s quite a few I skip routinely, so I don’t have numbers for all of them.
  • There’s a bunch more that I save for level 50. I only have two characters in TVHM right now, so the ranges won’t be as exact.
  • Note that the side quests level up in The Dust even though the map stays stuck at level 37.
  • Because side quests in Lynchwood and The Dust level up during TVHM, there can be a much wider range of levels for those quests.

Yes, there is a specific reason. I’m trying to plan for the remainder of NVHM and how I want to proceed through TVHM. I have 2 characters that have finished UVHM, 1 in UVHM and the new one in NVHM. I have set a couple of challenges for myself with the new one while catching up with the others. I suspect that knowing the parameters for mission Lvls will help me do it better. ie, when to pick up a mission to best meet my needs.

NVHM appears to be pretty cut and dried,( @VaultHunter101 thanks for the NVHM list) as in “Where Angels Fear to Tread” will be a Lvl 24-25 mission. (Wiki says 26). UVHM, everything scales to the player.
TVHM is the real gray area for me mostly because I can’t remember what it was like the last time I did it (it’s hell getting old) and I don’t trust the Wiki numbers.

Thanks a bunch for the list. I’ll be starting another one soon and having this in front of me will help.

The wiki isn’t necessarily wrong - I think it could be higher if you levelled more before triggering the start of that segment. It depends on how many of the side quests you complete before you reach that point. I can’t remember off hand if the wiki simply lists “typical level” or the actual level ranges.

What’s interesting is how certain missions and side quests appear to be absolutely fixed (because they occur at set points in the story where Sanctuary levels up). Lynchwood and The Dust (the name of the Borderlands band I’m now forming) are the really odd-ball ones. Also fun how you can actually get certain ones to scale over 30 if you deke out to one of the last two DLCs before hitting those areas/quests.

Aaah, a Country and Western band! :innocent:

I’m thinking Country Thrash Metal with a side of Punk.

Have you heard of Lucero? They almost fit that description, minus the thrash metal. I usually describe them as Country Fried Social Distortion. I love the albums, and the live show is awesome. The Mountain This song is sweet.

SWEEEETTT!!

Just completed “Toil and Trouble” at 23.2. Was not pretty but got it done. For Saturn, was a 30 but managed to lure him over by the building and then ran like hell to the lift (which is a misnomer for a Krieg).

I do think knowing the LVls in TVHM will help me plan better for a low Lvl run. Provided I can maintain his gear Lvls at his. Thanks again.

One of my Favorites.

I find it really funny that Best Minion Ever is dead set at Level 5, as I usually find myself starting that mission after Shielded Favors and Handsome Jack Here! This is primarily because I like to let the rest of Hammerlock’s missions he offers after Shielded Favors (Bad Hair Day and Symboisis, taking them in conjunction with The Name Game as well) scale to L8 before doing them.

So effectively I’m doing Best Minion Ever at 4 instead of 5. XD
