Local Melee Kreig is Suicidal

Hey, Kreig veteran here. (Kinda, level 69, at any rate.)
I want to do the impossible: A melee Kreig WITHOUT release the beast.
Suicidal, I know, but i kinda want to emulate being a normal psycho. (Fitting that I’m getting my butt handed to me.)
I’m at level 41 and had to pull in help to beat Wilhelm. Even regular threshers are knocking me down with ease. I’m currently running either a rampaging slab (blue and purple elude me) or a barbarian.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this matter.
EDIT: I just incorporated StV. It works miracles. Combining it with ToB emulates RtB nicely.
A strong weapon/melee stick in the law complements this well, espically with TotK.
Nothing like 3-shotting badass nomad brutalizers.

How do you feel about roid shields?
You should be coming up to get a Law and a Rubi at level 41 - get that and a bladed Rubi. The Order shield should be available around level 48, but until then any good roid shield from a vendor, and a tesla ( or Storm Front or Lightning Bolt ) to strip it and build stacks. For COMs, either a Sickle or even a Meat (w/Salt the Wound). With that gear, this should be more than adequate :

From there Silence the Voices ( unless your not into it ), then Blood Bath and Bloodsplosion.

Yup, guess I should have listed my equipment better.
I was mainly using the roksalt, with StW boosted, but I was dealing poor damage and couldn’t survive long enough to get stacks. This was with a roid shield. I also used a reogenator for a bit, which worked well, but i still couldn’t do damage.
Here is my current build. It is carving up the slaughterhouse. (Law and roid shield with fireball for dot and stack building.)

Do you need both Fuel the Rampage and Thrill of the Kill at 5/5?
Some of that could go to Salt the Wound.

agree with @Jefe remove the points in Fuel the Rampage to Salt the Wound, the put 1 point in thrill of the kill and put it in either Embrace the Pain or Strip the Flesh.

I would also farm for a bladed rubi and a Love thumper. I would consider speccing out of STV if I would go with roid and take fuel the blood and bomb axe bombardier in bloodlust tree.

Conventional wisdom says don’t combine StV and roid, but I took that combo to OP4 ( at which point it stopped being fun ).

I would recommend also trying a hellborn-mania build as the healing from fire DoTs spreading should make tanking hits for Buzzaxe Rampage cooldown feasible. This is the spec I would sugest at level 56 (or this one a bit earlier at the expense of Silence the Voices).

For the gear a Sickle classmod, health+ shields (adaptative, evolution, neogenator or rough rider preferably) and relics (vitality or blood of the ancients) should do the trick with a little touch of slagging from (low level) slag bouncing betties or slag transfusions for UVHM and later.

I kept having trouble with roid but no stv. Thrill wasn’t healing enough.
As I am trying to emulate a psycho, fuel the rampage is a necessity. Not trying to be difficult, but i do appreciate the advice. The only reason i skipped salt was because i needed more consistent damage, so i, ironically, went with StV.
(Needless to say, trying to run a pure BAR build is dang tough without the beast, but this build is for going against the grain.) My reviving is also getting better through the addition of bloody revival, an underestimated skill, two words: torge/rokkits.
