Splash damage accesory

Had an interesting thought the other day. There is a lacking variety of weapons with Splash damage. Do you guys think itd be possible or cool to have an accessory that gave 30-50% Splash damage on any given weapon?

For example guns that normaly don’t have Splash like Jakob’s could have explosive Splash. Dahl could have explosive on NE and it’s elemental weapons would just have the added Splash. Same would go for vladof and bandit weaponry. I think it would add even more variety to loadouts being there are many skills that boost Splash. I’m not sure if this was posted before I tried searching. And figured this would be a good spot for this discussion

Generally it’s better for weapon parts to have more interesting effects than just influencing numbers.

This would more so only effect non uniques. Just to add more variety or make a weapon that normally doesn’t have grenade damage boosts have them. Also isn’t that all weapon parts already do is influence numbers? Damage, accuracy, recoil recovery, mag size, bullet speed? Not sure if those are all stats boost by accessories but a few are

What the hell is that splash gonna be made up of? Shockwaves from the impact, turbulence or… What? It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I’d be OK if NE guns also could have an armor piercing effect, but “splash” seems a bit far fetched.

Where does the hornets Splash come from? There is nothing on the gun that would make you think it has Splash compared to a plasma caster or any other etech.

It is simply a unique with added Splash. I guess if you had to add it to a gun visibly it would be on the body I guess?

Not a bad idea by itself but implementing it would be troublesome. Because of "sacrosanct " balance.
It’s basically just another damage accessory. So either they’ll make it to low or with a base damage penalty…
Splash damage is already complicated enough. Of course my Commando would love a grenade splash on his Muckamuck!:sunglasses:
But I think splash should remain a Maliwan thing. (With maybe some few exceptions.)
Should it be mentioned on the item card like burst for DAHL or reverse recoil for Hyperion?

After thinking about I also thought Splash may lead to balance issues. 50% is probably too high and base damage would need to be lowered as the penalty. But I think 25-30% Splash with a 10-15% debuff to base damage would work

Unless a character had no base damage buffs and a lot of splash buffs i’d never use that over a normal damage attachment. I think the manufactures who don’t have weapons with splash should remain that way.

It is simply an idea. Look at bandit, dahl, and vladof e techs. More specifically ars. They are awful for the most part and you have to change op levels down so low before they are more viable the numbers I gave are rough and may be on the low side or may not really work in your case but for a few characters that buff base damage and grenade damage they would work well. But then again not all accessories on a given work for every character. Some are better than others. As for Splash I don’t think it would hurt anything manufacturer wise. There are weapons outside of Malian and torque that have Splash. It’d just add more variety. Preferred by some or hated by others. I’m not saying by any means that it is perfect.
