What happened in Opportunity?

So, I needed another mule character and I’m playing through Normal mode to get enough eridium. I just got to Opportunity, didn’t move and had to go watch TV for an hour. I came back, and the mission almost completed itself. I didn’t have to kill the body double or collect the voice samples, only upload them to Angel. I haven’t used this character to join anyone else’s game, my games are closed off to the public, and none of my friends joined the game. Did the game just decide to do the mission for me? Good guy body double getting the voice samples and killing himself?

Welp, that depends on what platform are you playing.
I’m not sure about consoles, but on PC randoms still can join you via steam profile, even if your game set to “Friends/Invite only”. Some guy joined in, completed mission objectives, and leaved like nothin’ happened.
To prevent this, i usually set “LAN/Offline” mode when i’m going afk.

Huuuh. Yeah, guess that’s possible but none of my steam friends even play BL2.
EDIT Oh, duh. You said randos. I should really learn how to read.

I love this meme, and you just made it relevant again. I only wish my Photo Shop kung fu was strong enough to give him Handsome Jack’s face. Thank you. Side note, how could you get a random in your game if your game is set to private? If private doesn’t mean private…

So his game wasn’t ptivat. Just online for friends.
But the double does the quest by himself? How? :joy:

WARNING! WARNING! Semi Spoiler for TPS! WEEE WOOOO WEEE WOOOO!

I guess the body double really is Timothy from TPS and finally had enough of Jack’s BS, Angel let him hack into our echo, knew our plan, gathered the voice samples (he already sounds like Jack, why he would need to gather voice samples I dunno SHUT UP!) and while he was walking along he had a sudden heart attack, collapsed, and fell off the side of Opportunity into the ocean as there isn’t railing, but not before throwing the pocket watch at my face.

I’m pretty sure it’s by group… had a random join a game I was in, and I asked how he got here, and he was in a group shared by someone who was a friend. I’m not sure if this is still a thing, but I have a habit of throwing N, Up arrow, Up arrow, enter without even thinking about it whenever I start up a game now, so haven’t had anyone poking around for a long time.
