Maya the Nursing WildCat
Note: This is a port of a build originally developed and posted by Poisoned on the old gearbox forums. You can still find an archive of the original here. I’ve streamlined the original post a fair bit and added in some additional commentary. All original credit to Poisoned though.
Those interested in nursing builds should also check out Spunky’s Guide for more information.
I really like to be a Nurse, to heal and cure my friends. But i also like to shoot bad guys until they are death. the faster, the better. So i wanted a build that can deliver a lot of damage while still caring for the group and not letting die anyone.
Primary Build and Variants
- Lvl 72+ with Legendary Cat Class Mod:
- Lvl 72 Playthrough and DLC 1+2 Build
- Lvl 72 DLC 3+4, Rough Rider + Fleet Variant
The main DPS components come from the use of Accelerate, Inertia, Wreck, Foresight, and Chain Reactrion. The nursing comes from the core skills in the Harmony tree. Both are aided by the use of Suspension, Converge, Quicken, Sub-Sequence and the melee overide skill Scorn.
The build is focussed around keeping Phaselock active for as long as possible, hence the use of Suspension and Sub-Sequence at the expense of taking Ruin. If more DPS is desired, points could be split or swapped between Sustenance and Mind’s Eye or inertia and Reaper.
The build works well with Maliwan Plasmacasters, because of the huge magazine size and the superfast reloads with 10/5 Foresight (plus points in Inertia)

Playstyle
We kill our first enemy as fast as possible to get LifeTap working, from then on we want to be right in the middle, we don’t need to hang back or run behind our Teammembers. LifeTap heals us for 6% of all Damage we do, so as long as we shoot something or as long as any effect is working on our Enemy, we are always topped with our health.
We use Subsequence + Sweet Release when there are enough enemies or we let the single Phaselocked Targets hang in there for Team-healing by Elation and kill them in the last second for SR. (You can easily kill 3 normal enemies with one phaselock on the cost of elated)
if a Teammate goes down then phaselock the enemy in front of him, so he gets double damage from second wind for a short period plus the 5 healing Orbs.
Scorn tips:
- Never throw Scorn directly at an enemy! Always aim over the heads or between enemies since Scorn has a huge search radius.
- Throw Scorn before entering a room or before phaselocking an enemy. This way when we enter the room all barrels are exploded and all enemies are slagged and waiting for their destruction.
- Always try to throw Scorn BEFORE Phaselocking. This way we don’t waste a precious second of our phaselock and the converged enemies get slagged by the passing Scornball.
- Scorn additionally:
- open Piles, vases and other loot containers
- mark unseen targets
- destroys several (airborne) dangers like rocket barrages, nuclear missiles, arrows, spikes…
Levelling guide
Lvl 61 UVHM Playthrough and DLC 1+2
- Variant with Kinetic Reflection for Bandit Camps and such
- Variant with Quicken instead of Kinetic Reflection which i run mot of the time:
Lvl 61 UVHM DLC 3+4, Fleet Variant
- Used with a Rough Rider and sometimes with a Breakneck Banshee COM, so that almost nothing can hurt us. 11/5 Fleet is really one of the best defense you can have in those DLCs
Lvl 50 (TVHM)
