How to make a 1-shot ROM into a 2-shot in one easy step

ROM farming is probably the most annoying farm in the game - certainly for Deputy players as it’s the one bit of gear the whole build revolves around.

The core of it is that Money Shot requires a minimum two shots in the mag ; so in the case of the Orphan Maker, a minimum magazine size of three ( it consumes 2 ammo per shot for those that don’t know ).

Given that we’re locked to the Rustler’s prefix and therefore don’t have the option of a Sidewinder (mag-size) , we normally can’t accept a ROM with a Tediore, Hyperion or Torgue grip as they all provide a mag size of two, so Money Shot can’t work.

So we are compelled to get one with either a Bandit grip :

or a Jakobs grip :

The Bandit grip is less than ideal as it reduces both accuracy and reload speed ( and also provides less damage than a Jakobs grip ) ; so we really only have one choice : Jakobs grip, right?

Ideally, but necessarily.

There are other ways for Sal to affect mag size :

  • the Legendary Berserker COM will boost Filled to the Brim to 10/5, which gives +50% to mag size in both hands. This turns a mag size of 2 into 3 ; but who wants to play Deputy Sal with a Leg Berserker??
( actually me, but that’s another story )
  • the “Neutral” Monk COM’s mag size boost doesnt affect the offhand and you definitely don’t want to have the ROM in your right hand - so that’s no good.

Which brings us to our “fix” : the Jakobs allegiance relics come with one or two of the following :

  • Recoil reduction
  • Recoil recovery
  • Mag size : up to 81% at level 72

The relic affects both hands and will turn a mag size of 2 into a mag size of 4 ( in conjunction with 5/5 in FttB )

The typical relic of choice is the Deputy’s Badge for its boost to reload speed ( and marginal damage increase).

However a Tediore grip also boosts reload speed.

Compared to a Jakobs grip, the Tediore version has 0.1 slower reload and does about 1.8% less damage. Not as good, sure, but pretty damn close.

( as a side-note , the Hyperion and Torgue grips also work, and have accuracy and damage advantages respectively, but their reload speed is the same as the Bandit )

In conclusion, yes you should try to get a Jakobs grip as it will give you the best overall stats ( damage, mag size, accuracy and reload speed ) ; but if you come across one with a Tediore grip, by all means consider that as a possibility and keep your peepers open for an allegiance relic.

Is there any difference damage wise if you have 1 ammo left compared to 2 ammo on a 2 ammo per shot weapon? I know the avenger and some tediore had some effect to it not sure of the others.

No - no difference at all. I think that only applies to Tediore weapons but not parts.

No matter whether the mag size is three or four and regardless of the parts on it, you should get one regular shot followed by another regular shot which is boosted by M$.

Is that what you meant?

I mean the last shot. 3 mag rom last shot has 1 ammo in it, while 2 mag rom plus allegiance last shot has 2 ammo when fired.

Right : no difference.

Damage is the same ; ammo consumption is the same.

The missing ammo is taken straight from your ammo pool.

The neutral monk bonus doesn’t affect the offhand though

Right - I did say that though

but I’ll reword it as you have stated it.

Sorry to go off topic, but this is news to me. No longer will i complain about a 6 mag quad vs a 7 or 8 mag

Sorry, I totally misread you above. No need to change anything. :stuck_out_tongue:
