Best Shotguns for Zer0?

As the title says I wanna know the best Shotguns for Zer0 and that includes non red text. I’m currently using a rustler’s quad, teeth of terra and gentle blockhead.

Currently running a two fang build with shadow of the seraphs and I’m at 99% chance to fire twice lol any suggestions on my build would be welcome too.

It depends on two skills : One Shot One Kill and Bore

OSOK guns : Twister , Rustler’s Orphan Maker , Coach Gun ( actually as good or better than Quads or Bushwacks ) , Triquetra , Blockhead , Omen , Jolly Roger , Ravager , SWORDSPLOSION!! , ( edit : Flakker - @Kuolemanlaakso - how did I forget?! )

Bore : Interfacer , Twister , Conference Call ( and literally everything else )

The build looks good by the way.

Ye omen and blockhead are working really well, thought interfacer would be decent but just doesn’t seem to work well with Zer0.

Good to know, never really used shotties or Zer0 so wasn’t sure

uh…no…it is literally the standard for B0re-shots. Watch any raid or Peak run - Interfacer every time.

Im testing on mobs and they aren’t bunching up much so maybe that’s why it feels less effective than the blockhead to me

Your build is pretty solid. I would assume you are using a Leg.Killer with this.
Shadow of the Seraphs is cool but you will tend to get more out of a Bone if you are using elemental shotguns.

Regarding B0re, I personally wouldn’t strategize my shotgun usage upon their B0re efficacy. In mobbing, the circumstances where B0re is gamebreaking is far and few between, and many of the enemies with overlapping hitboxes tend to be bosses anyway.

Blockhead is an excellent choice. While it’s DPS is inferior to Zer0’s top options, its splash and spread lend it alot of versatility while mobbing. It is a good balance between a OSOK shottie and a DPS shottie.

As many have already mentioned, the Quad, and especially a Rustler’ Quad, is not great on Zer0. If you are a fan of Jakobs, the vanilla Coach Gun would serve you best. If you are utilizing a Leg Killer, I highly recommend pairing it with a Jakob’s Relic so you can take advantage of its FR by having 4 shots in a mag.

Outside of the Peak, I wouldn’t really recommend the Twister. You would be better served by most triple and quad barreled shotties that can consistently score critical hits.

If you are aiming for damage-per-shot, taking advantage of OSOK and Decepti0n, I would recommend the Jolly Roger as your best choice. It’s very underrated around these parts, but I have not found any other shottie more capable of consistently scoring one-shots on Zer0. The Shotgun Supreme is also an excellent choice.

For DPS, I find the Thinking and Heartbreaker to be excellent. If you are good at getting the sweetspot, the Interfacer would be superior, but this is quite difficult to achieve in bandit maps. Hyperion shotguns may not have amazing per-shot damage, but their DPS is pretty insane, giving it excellent synergy with Rising Sh0t. Also, they tend to be very accurate - and can take advantage of Zer0’s crit buffs well.

The Coach Gun and Blockhead are also really solid - giving a good balance between damage-per-shot and damage-per-second.

There’ll be a lot of repeats here, but these are the shotguns I feel are worth noting on Zer0 for casual mobbing.

  • DPS
    • Butcher
  • In between
    • Sledge’s Shotgun
    • Blockhead
  • One Shot One Kill
    • Twister
    • Jolly Rodger

The Omen seems to be slowly becoming my favorite shotgun in BL2, but I just never seem to be able to make it work on my 10/5 Velocity Zero like I want it to.

  • HM
    • The Interfacer and CC are good for raids or speed runs, but bad for ammo usage
    • I prefer the ammo efficient Butcher to the Heartbreaker, but it is still good and has life steal
    • The Doc’s Coach Gun and Ravager are good, but truth be told the one’s I listed are better. And you can actually use a Bone with them, which is huge for Zero
  • Not a HM, but has anyone tried the SWORDSPLOSION!!! on Zer0?

Yes it felt horrible lol

Just awkward with the velocity increase because of the way the shot fluctuates I think

Lucky I got one yesterday from a bone pile in Hunter’s grotto lol

Just make sure it’s fire or corrosive. It’s really not worth it if it’s not.

It’s fire but doubt I’ll use it over the blockhead, mags too big for OSOK even with +99% extra shot chance it takes a while to burn through and there are better shotties for DPS and B0re purposes
