Hi everyone. I plan on taking Gaige through the Peak shortly, I got through the whole of UVHM using an Anarchy build using the Fibber, now i’ve got to the peak I feel like I want something a little more deliberate in build to get myself through.
I have all of her Legendary class mods, and also have a Chaotic Evil Necromancer COM that’s level 50. I’m looking for ideas for a build to get through to OP8, preferably solo. I can get help but i’d like to get as far as I can alone first.
Gear isn’t an issue, I can farm anything you recommend, so please give me some ideas I’m not against anarchy but would rather not have to pre-stack. However if it’s required I can do. @FunkJunkie already gave me some great advice, i’ve started a thread to keep it all in one place.
Oh, and i’m playing on console, so no UCP stuff please.
Use a build of your choice until the combat pressure pushes you into some min/max thing, i.e., the Fibber on a heavy diet of Anarchy as you mentioned. Someone else should be able to provide a min/max build if/when that time comes.
DoT (my bread and butter), doesn’t work well while ascending the Peak because their health is usually off relative to your element, and you’re at the high-end of UVHM where DoT starts to have diminishing returns, so while corrosive weapons are recommended, that’s primarily for the impact damage. Gaige’s shock damage skills can work, but that’ll be a stiffer fight (I have seen people raid with them though).
Smaller Lighter Faster is worth the points as one of her few reload skills, and even if you don’t want to use Anarchy, the skills beyond are worth it if only for Blood Soaked Shields, so the single point in Anarchy is worth burning to “unlock” those (and then you can just skip trying to maintain stacks if you don’t care for them).
This is generic digistruct peak advice I give to newer players. A disclaimer that I’m not very knowledgeable about Gaige and I admit that I got her through most of digistruct with a Sal running the rocket jump cheese. I have only taken Maya, Zero, and Sal without that cheese from 72 to OP8. Only Maya solo, the others were with people at the same level though so I still count those
The first four digistruct levels aren’t too bad as you could just beehawk with every character (maybe not Krieg and Sal you’d grog/Harold instead, dunno) if you wanted to (not suggesting it, but just pointing out that standard BL2 gunplay will get you through fine)… I normally do a re-farm for gear around OP5 or 6 for the final push. I only grab a few key items, because I’m pushing to OP8 and so there’s no need for a lot of stuff. The Bee, DPUH, Grog, Pimp, Sandhawk are all easy farms (though you have to re-set your play through if you’ve already done Scarlett DLC which most ppl have at that point) and you can also get an Orphan Maker or Jolly Roger if you really wanted too (not sure how much use those are with Gaige). That set of weapons is strong enough for all OP levels. The fibber is annoying to re-farm since you’d have to reset your main story and play through a whole lot of it, then you’ll likely reset again at OP8. Send me a PM or a PSN message if you get stuck, I only have OP8 characters, but I could deck them out with my small selection of OP5 or 6 stuff to make it more balanced.
Farming L72 Pete with your OP 5 or 6 character can get you an Antagonist relatively easily (still a bit of a farm as only a few crystals at a time, on PS3 you could bring in a second toon and double your drop pickups…) if you want a good non-Bee shield, you could just as easily farm the Snowman chest for a purple Adaptive or something…
edit: If you do end up re-setting your playthrough around OP5 or 6, grab an on level Badaboom before you do so. It’s considered by many (including me) to be the second strongest launcher in the game and it’s really easy to farm…
