I’m having a lot of trouble finishing Wam Bam Island with Gaige. Which kind of roadblocks her continuing in UVHM at all, since my plan was to transition from the level 50 shock Fibber to farming Thunderball Fists from Sparky Flynt (I do not want to slog from Liar’s Berg to the Captain 10+ times every time she wants to upgrade her pistol!).
She’s level 55, so the Fibber is getting a bit old already, though it’s still very effective against ordinary mobs. I use a OC/LBT build, currently something like this (not entirely sure how her More Pep/5 Gorillas points are distributed, but those are irrelevant filler skills anyway).
Other gear: level 50 ROM, level 54 Slagga, level 53 blue shock transfusion, level 54 purple Vladof RL, level 54 blue turtle shield, shock Bone, Leg. Mechromancer COM, various other weapons and relics in the backpack (Fastball, Good Touch, Sheriff’s Badge, etc.).
She can get Craw about half-down before dying, using Discord heavily to heal. Going from 150 stacks to 200 didn’t make any difference. The Fibber still seems to be her best gun, though of course when Craw goes underground for a while she stops Discord and kills riffraff with the ROM (trying to prioritize varkid pods, though eventually some do hatch).
What does she need to pull this off? Does she need to stack even higher, 300 maybe? Is there key gear accessible at level 55 that would make a difference? The videos I’ve seen all use the CC, which I don’t entirely understand (I’d think the Fibber would be better). But the only CC she could hope to get would be level 50 as well, which doesn’t seem worth it. She does have a level 50 Flakker, but getting that close to Craw seems like a quicker way to die…
It looks like there was a thread about this on the old forums (linked in the Resources of the Mechromancer Variety thread) but I wasn’t able to find an archived copy.
But even at 2/5 the damage is quite decent, it’s just the slag chance that sucks.
