Hi. I’m kinda new to the community. Just getting back into BL2 and was wondering how to farm for Rare Weapons in the game. Thank you.

Welcome!

Before you start farming, let me just say this: Until you get to Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM), the need to farm for stuff is negligible. It’s better that you take the time to get familiar with a variety of gear, in order to discover which things fit your playstyle.

Most bosses that drop unique gear can be farmed over and over. Once you’ve encountered them in a mission, they will respawn after a save & quit. There are a few enemies that aren’t connected to a mission. Instead they will randomly spawn in certain locations.

More or less depends on what you are wanting as to where to farm

I would say ignore this, but he is correct, NVHM and TVHM you can get through them with more or less anything that drops and the right build to match the occasion. :grinning:
But everyone here knows I have a fatal Illness which can only be held in check by farming multiple shiny things at all levels in all playthroughs.

That being said, my main farms in NVHM, TVHM and UVHM are.
for LM’s and LLM’s

  1. the 4 boxes in WEP
  2. Thousand cuts
  3. Sawtooth Caynon

for seraph gear in the Lower playthroughs the Ancient Dragons are a 100% drop for one of these per run, Stinger, Omen or Blockade, plus an occasional legendary and a good farm for eridium (about 80ish per run)

the other raids also drop gear
Hyperious (for me) is a good farm for the Norfleet, I’ve also gotten other assorted legends from him and 1 or 2 seraph guns in the lower playthroughs

Seraph Crystals best be acquired by farming the raids, but only in UVHM will they drop, they can be acquired by playing the eridium slots in flamerock, but that’s an extremely poor farm for them

I’ll restate what the 2 above have said. No need to farm until your lvl cap or if you’re stuck in an area on uvhm. I will link you this

I’ll just add to the earlier comments that if you want to farm something for TVHM at the end of NVHM or something for UVHM at the end of TVHM or just get a quick gear upgrade during UVHM leveling climb the Mercenary Day headhunter DLC is your friend.

I use that as my main gearing method in UVHM as you can easily visit that a few times every couple of levels and grab a new shield and a couple of on level weapons and you have a decent chance to get a random legendary out of it too to play with.

As everywhere , forum members liberally use acronyms - no need to apologize. I actually thought we should do a definition list of commonly used acronyms and abbreviations, but never got the energy to do it.

LM’s and LLM’s are as Jefe states above

WEP = Wildlife Exploitation Preserve
and for this farm you will at least need the mission “Doctors Orders” active , but do not pick up any of the Echo’s or the LM’ and LLM’s will decrease in the boxes per the number of echos picked up

I suggest you don’t farm for more than a few really good items that will help you in UVHM. A really good Fibber, for example. Make sure that you don’ t start leveling up a bunch while you’re farming, or the start of UVHM will be a nightmare. Everything you farm now will be lvl 50, and UVHM scales to your level. Meaning that if you level up too much, you’ll start with underleveled gear anyway.

FTFY. A level 50 slag Fibber will last you UVHM. Otherwise the only thing I ever bother farming before UVHM is a Slagga.

So what lvl should I be farming and which side missions?

How much DLC content do you have?

Headhunter packs?
Torgue, Tiny Tina, Hammerlock and Scarlett DLC’s?
Level cap : 50? 61? 72?

You can do all the side missions in any order in NVHM and TVHM. Only when you get to UVHM should you be concerned with what to farm and when.

Don’t bother farming anything in NVHM - use everything you find! Only once you reach level 50 in TVHM should you think about new gear in preparation for UVHM. Then it’s typically a good slagger and a good shield. Maybe a Harold or the like, but not really necessary. Don’t start thinking about gear until you meet Mal in Eridium Blight in True Mode.

For now, if you’re in Normal, just play the game as you like.
