Time to get rid of non solo able challenges?

I think they need to just remove this as a requirement for the challenge and make it optional since doing it with one character is pain in the ass enough but trying to do it with every character is asinine. It’s pretty much impossible on Krieg and Salavador is close to the same. There’s get crushed in the dust crusher, win a duel, trade, revive and the top of The World in Opportunity.

It wouldn’t be so bad if some of these were account wide achievements that once unlocked could be removed from having to be done in other characters. They took out the 1 in Caustic Caverns for the Psycho since he’s got a lead rear. so they should change it for these as well or hopefully do it for the next game in the series.

I’ve played a ton and done both group and solo but right now my 20 year old son is playing other things so the few things I need done i can’t get done. My Profile.bin got corrupted a ways back (thanks Steam) so I had to start over so i need like 5 or 6 things.

The challenges are already optional?

Actually they aren’t since to get account achievements you’ve got to do them such as “challenge Accepted” which is the Steam achievement for doing all level 1 challenges etc. While you can say screw Badass ranking you can’t avoid those when trying for account ones.

You don’t need ANY of the map-specific challenges to get the “Challenge Accepted” achievement. So it’s quite possible to get that with any of the six characters, size and jump height not withstanding.

That’s true to an extent but cult of the vault hunter is a challenge as well and for each area that it. so you’ve got to get all cult of the vault challenges . Also character size does matter as stated above since Pyscho can’t jump very high Gearbox hotfixed some of his challenges to remove them.

That has it all listed showing you still have to do some stuff with other players instead of solo which is a royal pain since they’re character specific.

Just to clarify, the Challenge Accepted achievement isn’t tied to Steam but to the game, since you can get that on either of the two console platforms in either the past or current generation. I actually got this on my 360 because I had two accounts so I could split screen the dual challenges…

You don’t need the cult of the vault challenges to get Challenge Accepted, but yeah, coop is necessary for the trading and duel challenge, which I imagine is annoying if people just play offline.

Luckily Borderlands 2 does not have the “Who you gonna call” trophy in Borderlands The Pre-Sequel.

That list does NOT include the “Cult of the Vault” map-specific challenges. The only things you need to do with other players are revives, trades, and 1 duel, so I’ll give you that. Easy enough to arrange in split-screen though.

The wording on the page is a little misleading and could be clearer, but I can’t edit it right now because wikia.com has become such an ad-infested nightmare it’s hard to load.

It’s only annoying if you’re after full ranks in every challenge just for its own sake? I don’t even think you need those to be able to prestige (though someone more versed in that should confirm this), and I don’t think they’re tied to any skins either. For the “Challenge Accepted” achievement, I believe there are only two challenges that you need to do a minimum of once each: win a duel (Hater’s Gonna Hate) and trade with someone else (Psst, Hey Buddy). You can do both of these in a matter of seconds… doesn’t matter where, doesn’t matter who’s hosting; meet, trade something, start a duel that your friend will throw for you, and leave. If you’re obsessive about challenges, do the duel in Lynchwood on the train tracks and get credit for “Duel of Death” at the same time.

@hattieinduni I don’t know if you notice, but whenever we trade weapons, I use my Bandit Mechromancer? My other characters send her the gear through Claptrap’s locker, and she does the trades to get the most out of those exchanges (as opposed to spreading those few ranks around among my other characters where they will take forever to add up).

That’s what I mean. It’s really easy if you play online and have a friend who’s willing to hop in, as most people do - just not everyone. It’s just an achievement so it doesn’t really matter (unlike the glitch in the pre-sequel when you’re walking Felicity over to her doom, if that gets activated and you don’t have a friend the game’s done with)

I’m not aware of that glitch with Felicity? I’ve done it solo every time, so I must have missed it.

The what? Never seen or heard of this I think. What happens and when?

As for the topic I think the map specific one of challenges are pretty cool. They aren’t required for anything and are usually worth 1 or 5 points. The only reason to keep do those other than having done them once is obsession with completionism (I’m guilty of this).

I do have a problem with the non area specific coop challenges. It’s not the “what” but the “how much”. Who the hell is going to win 50 duels? I’m amazed if any of my characters ever even fought more than 5 and those have mostly happened because of an accidental challenge that gets answered because I’m just screwing around with a couple of friends while playing online.

Same thing with the trades. Occasionally gets used to avoid stuff falling under floor but that’s just in places where that is bound to happen. Other than that it’s just trading for the sake of building up the challenge instead of just tossing the goods on the ground. Both those numbers should be at 10 and 20 tops, I think both of them cap off at 50. Or they could just not be challenges to begin with.

The second wind one is the only one that can get done by just playing coop.

After the thing with the turrets, if you advance the quest by activating the next object but don’t accompany Felicity and complete the next stage, you get locked out of the area you need to be in. Happens most frequently to folks who save-quit at that point, or deke back to Concordia to re-equip from the stash or vault.

I agree that it is annoying for solo-playing completionist freaks like me, but you don’t need to complete any of the area challenges (including Cult of the Vault) to unlock the Challenge Accepted achievement. The other multiplayer challenges are doable by using a second character of your own in split screen. I know because I did it. I never played online with other people and I have the Challenge Accepted achievement. I think the only achievement you can’t get by playing solo/offline is the Friendship Rules one, but I believe there’s a work around for that one as well, I just don’t remember what it is.

unless I am missing something we are talking about a specific “GameAcheivement”, Not a specific BAR challenge, if that is the case then I believe that this, “requiring the level 1 completion of all non-level-specific challenges with a “SINGLE” character” , means that you have to complete it once on one SINGLE toon to get said Acheivement and not once on all of the toons to get it,
because it is such a pain to do

As @Carlton_Slayer says a split screen can be used to complete the couple that needs coop,

Someone with a lot of freetime
in fact the friend I farm BAR with has 2 accounts, he always completes all his trades and duels for all his toons

Yeah, sadly that’s not available to pc players.

In a series with its fair share of glitches, this is the one that’s frustrated me the most. It’s ok if you know about it and don’t quit at that point, but otherwise things can get tricky.

Score one for us console peasants, I guess? Always struck me as a bit lame, TBH.

I’ve always hated those things. I want that gold trophy!

Oh man, I’ve gotten close to doing that to myself apparently. The first couple of times doing the turret thing in UVHM annoyed the hell out of me (until I discovered a cowardly, cheap, but slow way to do it) so I would save/quit at that point to go grab a beer and take a break. But I guess I didn’t hit the next, quest-advancing, button those couple of times fortunately! (Or I would have grabbed the whole case of beer in the aftermath I’m sure…)
