B0re in multiplayer

I’m currently undergoing a playthrough with a friend with me as Zer0. Considering he has been my main for so long it’s kind of weird that I’ve never actually played much multiplayer with him (well, I don’t play much multiplayer to begin with but in those sessions he’s quite underrepresented).

Now, I remember reading long ago that bore doesn’t work if you are on client side. And I never hear the sound so I guess that might be true. I’m not too sure if the shots I’m taking on lined up enemies do extra damage or not as it’s quite hard to be certain with someone else also gunning them. Then again I did manage to vanish BNK-3R’s health bar from 70 % to 0 while spraying an SMG to where I’d usually do to get B0re magic. I’d think that was me and not something my Axton friend could pull of on TVHM. So does it work on client side or does it not? Is it random? Does it work but the sound just won’t play?

And if it really does not work, what about the part where it ignores bullet reflection or is that gone too?

Bore not working on client side is just a myth, it does work.

The only thing that dictates bore is the host’s fps and ping (since the host is the one creating the listening server for the session). In short If the host has low fps, it will be much harder to pull of those one shot KO (overlapping hitbox).

This game also have poor net coding, lag can impact your “sense” of b0re from a client point of view. That’s not an issue with b0re directly, its more of the host not updating the enemy location fast enough for the client view, so it can appear you b0red from your point of view, but the server (host) sees something different.

Hope this helps.

SO much this.^ I’ve had excellent runs with much scrunchy goodness, and terrible runs were I wasn’t even sure where my character was half the time (let alone actually hitting anything!) Check the displayed connection bars next time you’re with your friend once you’re actually running in-game and stuff is happening.

You’ll also notice that if the host is lagging out a bit, odd things happen when you open lockers and loot boxes - the animation is delayed, and it can sometimes seem like you hear the fx twice (or they echo).
