Level 51, TVHM, I can't seem to get the hang of Anarchy Gaige

So, most topics I see here are of people asking for post-game builds or OP8 builds, this probably looks kinda pathetic, but I’m at level 51 on the Data Mining storyline mission and I seem to have reached a breaking point after losing 400 stacks for the 10th time in a short time. I ran Gaige pretty much since I started playing the game, and I heard Anarchy Gaige was OP, so I gave it a shot. At the moment I’m running this.

pokee dokee boom rocket launcher (I feel like it’s useless at high stacks count though, but I don’t have anything else to replace it)
Scalable Development shotgun with Slag element
Fine Tidal Wave
Close Quarters Dahlminator

My shield is the Elegant Acid Nova Shield, my class Stern Roboteer, and my relic’s Moxxi’s Endowment so I can level up faster. I run a Rubberized MIRV as grenade atm because I don’t really have anything better

This are my skills http://bl2skills.com/mechromancer.html#500020000000503023000000415050151031

The problem is, I stack anarchy but then I’m made of glass, I go down before I can reliably approach the opponent enough to use the shotgun at full efficiency, and no matter how good I am at getting second winds, eventually the FFYL is half a second and I lose all my stacks. I have to use a lot of cover like a coward and I feel like this is not what people meant when they said Anarchy Gaige was OP. On a side note, I don’t see how the Tidal Wave is OP unless im at close range against a huge wide enemy like BNK3R, otherwise it misses so many shots I’m usually better off with the Slag shotgun.

Thanks for the help!

250 stacks is more than enough. Maybe consider moving some points. I had the most success with her when moving firstly down the left tree, and then focusing on Anarchy. I’m no expert though. At 51 I think I used something close to this:

As for your gear, try and get a fibber. You get it from the Real Boy questline from Mal, in Eridium Blight. If you can get a slag level 50 one from TVHM, make sure you get the richochet version, it makes pretty much everything in UVHM trivial. The key is to not aim at enemies but at the floor in front of them so all the pellets hit, the all get full damage. Combine that with maybe a Flakker, or Twister, it’s pretty effective.

https://i.imgur.com/WViX5VU.jpg Got one of those Fibbers already without realizing, whoops.

That fibber isn’t the right variant though, sadly. The one you’re looking for has a supposed mag size of ~1500 if I remember correctly.

Damn. Does that mean that til UVHM I can’t get a chance to get another one?

If you have any other characters who didn’t do that quest in TVHM, you could do the quest with them? Otherwise you could always see if someone on here has one they could trade with you. I would offer but you appear to be on PC, whereas i’m on Xbox.

Would you like me to recommend something with minimal farming just to get you to UVHM, or would you like me to help formulate something that will get you prepared for UVHM. Gaige is my worst character in this game, but I’m probably knowledgeable enough to help out a bit.

Well fk, It’s my only character the other being a Lvl12 Gaige that I used one time.

In other note, I just got the Orphan Maker and I heard it’s good for Gaige, but maybe it’s a bad version too or something idk.
The forum seems to not let me post a pic, but it’s just called Captain Blade’s Orphan Maker

Hory shet, that site has a UCP option now!

Anyway, let’s assume you don’t want to spend the next couple weeks trying to farm for those (or any other) particularly high-level weapons. Anarchy can definitely be overpowered, but I think a lot of that comes from players watching/using things like shock Fibbers or Badabooms, and having them kill things quickly. Because it can be overpowered doesn’t necessarily mean it’s an easy way to make the game easier.

Off the cuff, I’d take points out of Shock Storm and put them in Strength of Five Gorillas. I’d also go down the Best Friends Forever tree however you like to get Sharing is Caring. That still leaves enough points to go in the Anarchy tree for Blood Soaked shields and Discord (and Robot Rampage, which is pretty good for Deathtrap). You might lose Electrical Burn, but for something that’s specifically fire damage (with limited application, especially without the rest of that tree to back it up), its application is limited. Deathtrap can kill things fairly well, especially if you slag for him and build him for it a bit (and will distract enemies if nothing else).

Do you have any Golden Keys? This might be a good time to burn some. A Dahlminator is awesome on Gaige with a lot of Anarchy, since those shots will account for a lot of accuracy loss on their own, so you don’t sweat the 50% damage loss from Close Enough. How is the Tidal Wave working for you? If you’re at the Data Mining mission, maybe go for a Lady Fist (that mission is open, no?). Is that a Roboteer COM you’re wearing? What’s that buffing?

Yeah, I have around 200 Golden Keys. I have a Corrosive Dahlminator already, isn’t working so well tbh.
Tidal Wave forms part of the same mission as Lady Fist, so I can’t do it sadly. I heard Tidal Wave was so good on Gaige I didn’t think about it twice.

+5 Made of Sterner Stuff
+4 Strenght of 5 Gorillas
+3 Potent as a Pony

I have one for you.

That would be amazing, never traded with other people than my friends before though. I guess its just adding on Steam then joining a game, right?

steamcommunity.com/id/FrcAndroid here ya go

What the hell is the point of them having “join game” on mobile???

LOL Yeah Steam for mobile is kinda weird, It looks like they only did some formatting so it would fit on a phone and that’s it. Big Picture also looks really weird

Oh yeah… I thought the Tidal Wave alternate was the Stomper (different mission).

I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to those keys, so I’m always loathe to recommend spending them, but this really seems like a point in time when a fresh set of purple gear (grenades, shield, weapons, everything) would come in handy. I’d expect to burn, what, maybe eight or ten before I got a set of gear I was comfortable with? There’s always farming, but that early in UVHM… eww. Moxxi always has a Good Touch available, and the Lascaux is always available in Frostburn Canyon though.

Thanks so much for the gear dude!

For what it’s worth, my Gaige is near the same level (currently 48) and is not having much trouble. At 51, she’ll look like this. She uses a fairly old (+3s) Leg. Mechromancer COM, though at 51 she’ll be visiting Gingerton in UVHM to look for a +5 version, and will be looking for a Leg. Catalyst at 61+.

As fredbedmo said, you’ve gone way overkill on Preshrunk Cyberpunk. Leaving that at 0-2 points is probably best. My Gaige wrecks things just fine with “only” 150 stacks.

Other skills comments - Cooking Up Trouble is her primary healing skill, so I consider it a must-have. Shock Storm is considered to be a garbage skill because the radius is too small to actually hit anything. Shock and AAAGGGGHHH! is fantastic, it’s a major source of electrocute damage for Electrical Burn to proc off of. Myelin - bigger shield = better survival, whereas More Pep has very little effect. If you’re firing a shock gun with 15% electrocute chance, that’s now 18% with 5/5 More Pep; yay…

Guns - I like one shot Jakobs shotguns to start getting stacks up (most Strikers, Longriders, or Coach Guns are good). After stacks are at a decent level (100ish) a bit more caution is called for. Any reasonably accurate gun can work for that. I’ve been using Good Touch/Bad Touch since I have them left over from other characters, along with a purple Iron, a Scorpio, and a sequence of Hyperion pistols. For future reference, the Gwen’s Head is quite good with Gaige, but unfortunately it’s level 37 in TVHM so it won’t help you now. Visiting the Dust regularly in UVHM would not be a bad idea though.

Shield - turtle is the way to go unless you have a specific purpose in mind for something else. BSS will put your shield back to full with every kill, whereas your health regen even with CUT is not awesome. If you don’t have a level-appropriate turtle, the usual absorb or adaptive shields you’d use on most other characters are fine too.

Relic - let xp take care of itself. You’re already overleveled for the start of UVHM, the last thing you want to do before you actually start UVHM is gain any more levels. Use that slot for something useful. I keep a selection of elemental relics (including explosive, since as Jack reminds us that is an “element”!), along with a Deputy’s Badge for the initial stacking stage of a Gaige session.

Grenade - ideally you’ll want a good Tesla (or Storm Front, once you can farm them in UVHM), but pretty much anything decent will work. Rubberized != decent, for most players, though there are a couple who might disagree.

Though I didn’t do much with Gaige at max level, I didn’t have too much trouble levelling her without Anarchy. I never really got the hang of the skill and didn’t have the patience to build stacks, so I went for a Deathtrap build initially and then a shock/DT hybrid. It was certainly strong to take on UVHM. You don’t need ridiculous stack counts, as that ties you to gimmicks (basically sitting in cover and shooting the fibber randomly). 100 or so stacks is a lot on its own and with stronger gear, you could make that work. You’ve got stuff that’s good on a high anarchy Gaige, but you could also pick up some generally strong gear and use it with a lower anarchy Gaige and still do just fine. Props to making the Dahlminator useful though…
