Taking Krieg to op 8

I was wondering how hard it is? Im currently running this build http://bl2skills.com/psycho.html#55000500000000550105000053553153051 With a power toast com. Gear consists of slagga, SWORDSPLOSION!!, unkempt Harold, and a flakker. Rough rider shield explosive relic and some fastball grenades or storm fronts depending on the situation. I also carry around some fire gear and bone of the ancients if situation calls for it. Don’t really enjoy Moxxi healing and would like to play without it if possible. Was mostly wondering is op8 gonna be hard with this build? I don’t wanna spec into Melee at all, I don’t find mania enjoyable. Also am I gonna be really frustrated going to op8? I’m op 2 right now having a great time and don’t feel pressured to go to op8 but I want a carnage shotgun so bad! I heard the tubbby rates go up so was thinking of taking progress towards op8. Any feedback is appreciated!

I only have the one Krieg at OP8 and it’s been a while since I did it but he ran a Mania/Hellborn build and even with a focus on explosive weapons he also used elemental Hails (the only drawback with your build is that the 5/5 in PiP will negate 50% of the crit bonus from using a Hail). The DPUH is going to be a real ammo hog so a I’d suggest taking along either a Blood of the Ancients with boosts to your favored weapon’s ammo pool or a stockpile relic. Also, I’d move a point from Fuel the Fire to redeem the Soul- the 50% extra FFL time could save you from certain doom.
Not sure if you’re aware of it but element matching on the Peak is somewhat askew since enemies are ‘digistructed’ rather than being real flesh (as opposed to the loaders and armored enemies of course). Basically, shock, corrosive and explosive weapons work best on the Peak- fire weapons not so much.

So even with explosive weapons you would take the 5 out of pip? I feel as though it’s useful since I’m runnin practically all explosive and power toast boosts it to 10. I carry around a kitten for most loaders and the big tanks. Then my storm front usually does most the shock damage should I carry around another shock weapon as well? Thanks for all the help btw.

Not really- a pure splash weapon wouldn’t loss anything with PiP, it’s just that-IMO- even with the increase in raw damage from PiP landing critical hits deals far more damage for most weapons. Using your set up will work but ammo is going to be your real concern here, so you may find yourself relying on melee more than you want. Also, I don’t see you mention any AR (except the Kitten) or SR- don’t let these potential life savers go to waste- Krieg can snipe just fine. Weapons known for their crit damage like the Lady Fist should find their way into your backpack to go along with your explosive weapons- anything that kills fast with less ammo consumed is a good thing. And the Storm Front is fine as far as grenades go but since you’re going explosive Fastballs, which you’ve started collecting, work fine as well. If it’s tough getting a SF though any on level a.o.e. shock grenade should work.

I can tell you only one thing : if you are going to Melee, good luck with the Digistruct Peak.
Though if you’re going for Hellborn, it can be challenging at times (Scorch will waste you multiple times, get used to it).

By the way, if you like Shotguns you can go with the Omen since it really pairs well with Blood Bath and it has an element. The Slow Hand is also a great choice on Krieg provided you watch your ammo count.

So the problem isn’t ammo yet. I’m only op 3 and right now the problem is the assasins. I just can’t seem to get one on fire to survive or coroded or shocked even. Also when do you recommend getting new gear? I’m currently running with op2 gear and I feel like it will last through 3 but at op 4 should I be swapping out ? Just wondering when its best to get to farm again as I’m trying to get through the op levels as fast as possible. Thanks for helping me out here btw.

So love shotguns and was looking at this build a while back. The only problem is wanna avoid moxxi healing. Was kind of thinking of running a elemental shotgun build with relying on on EE for healing. Do you think it would work? Basically using a fire main hand corrosive shotty for any loaders and a flakker as my big boss crusher. Running a slagga as my slag tool and relying on maybe a quasar for healing or storm fronts. Anyway thought I would run it by cuz your shotgun build is super kick ass.

Well, the shotgun with the best DoT Damage is the Slow Hand (which is a Moxxi gun ^^), the Omen works really great as a Shotgun with Blood Bath, and it can kind of keep you alive as long as the enemy is slagged (so you get more health back through the DoT damage you deal).

I’d also recommend the Interfacer obviously, and if you’re going to deal with the Digistruct Peak then a Corrosive Conference Call will get those ■■■■■■■ Surveyors in pieces. :joy:

Awesome man thanks for the help. Might go grind for an omen sand finish torgue dlc for that slowhand. Hate those surveyors but it’s nothing a fast ball can’t fix.

As I mentioned before, fire really doesn’t work as well on the Peak because the enemies are digistructed- as such fire is a lackluster element to use there. You’d be better off trying shock, corrosive or explosive a.o.e. grenades with a corresponding BotA. One of my favorite tactics to do with them is to spam 4-6 a.o.e. grenades around them, particularly a Storm Front with your best shock BotA. Pelt them with the Slagga and watch how fast their health drains away. Depending on what other spawns are there they should drop grenades when they die so running out shouldn’t be a problem. If you really need to you can try to hide behind the drain pipe and let a Tiny Tina grenade mod regen your grenades but Rouf and Reeth are really aggressive and will follow you back there, so be prepared if you see a red dot approaching.

You’re going to struggle with a Toast com for two reasons: 1) Not enough passive healing from Raving Retribution to tank properly and 2) Self-burn doesn’t last long enough in the open sections neutralizing much of Hellborn’s strength. I tried running Toast com too but ended up opting for Legendary Torch in pure Mania-Hellborn build.

Other gear I used: Rough Rider, Pistol/Shotgun/Health Ancients relic, Chain Lightning to proc Delusional Damage and self-burn. Weapons were Hard Harold, Slagga, Hellfire, and Corrosive Butcher and Omen.

It’s a grind but it’s safe mostly, you just have to time your Rampage and throw axes when you’re in trouble from a safe distance.

Awesome I just got through them on op 3 by spamming stormfronts and healing through that. Then I swapped over to my SWORDSPLOSION!! And finished them off with that. Appreciate all the feed back.

Do you think it’s possible to get through the peak without going down to get RTB and using maybe a reaper mod instead. I really don’t like melee hahaha. Obviously if the peak is done best this way I’ll just bare with it until I finish up. I do think I have a spare torch but it’s not op level. Thanks for the feedback.

Sure it’s possible but you run into trouble without minions to kill. You have to time everything perfect any way you decide to run Krieg. That’s the challenge with him solo at the Peak.

Appreciate all the help man! At op 4 right now hoping to get 5 done tonight.

The Peak is tough as Krieg, but you are probably better off going with some version of gun Krieg, whether it’s with a Reaper or whatever else. There’s too much really big stuff to do melee Krieg unless you really like axe tossing (get the Sheriff’s badge if so, to increase the axe tossing rate). It’s very possible to do without RTB, but it’s nice to have that as a backup lifesaver. The other problem is that enemy’s on the peak are weak to corrosive, even enemies that would normally be weak to fire.

I think I’m mostly gonna end up going explosive. It fits into most situations on the peak and has been working for a lot of it. The problems I think I’m gonna run into are with Saturn. Also wondering when should I get rid of op2 SWORDSPLOSION!!? Was hoping to hold on to it for as long as possible so was curious to know when it would be best to reset my playthrough and grab another. Ty for feedback!

For most gear, I find it’s useful to refarm around OP5 or OP6 for the final push. I don’t do a full re-farm, since that would take forever, but I just identified a few pieces of gear that were relatively easy to farm (like a DPUH and Badaboom) and went with those. For the Saturns, it’s not fun, but I recommend a bee and something combo, like a corrosive pimp or sand hawk. It’s lame and still time consuming, but you can just duck in cover and pop away at them with something strong enough to eventually take them down. Krieg doesn’t have the best gun damage, but the mag size increase from Bloodlust (and possibly EE) allows for a lot of Sandhawk rounds to be shot in one mag. If you’re spec’d into Hellborn, you need something non-elemental with the bee, maybe a non-elemental Sandhawk or Conference Call. Going with an explosive based build seems like a good plan.
