Bloody buggy game

the other day farming X-STLK-23, i saw a legandary drop from him through my scope but when i went to get it, it was gone.
just now I dropped my 3 legandaries on the floor in research and development to show my uncle the weapons that i just got and as i dropped the last one and got out of inventory, i saw it disappear into the floor. all of them were gone. wtf, is wrong with this game???

Never experienced anything like that with the pre sequel. But with borderlands 2, it happened to me a few times.

This has been a thing since BL2. It’s always fun watching your legendary fall through the floor and into oblivion.

yup. it’s been a thing for quite a long time now. Just tell yourself it was below your level and you’ll feel better about not getting that drop.

haha
well, I don’t think think I’ve even experienced that in BL2 or 1

for example: Never drop an item at the farm house map in Tundra Express. That cellar you spawn in has that issue. I discovered that farming Vermi skins/heads. :confounded:

WEP where the LLM spawn from the cardboard boxes. That floor is iffy. I have seen legendaries and Pearls fall through that floor.

LMAO I found visual proof!

good god
you’d think after all this time they would patch it
well, after a lot of yrs playing the series, I guess I’m pretty lucky that it was only those 2 times

the other thing I’ve been noticing lately, when farming Iwajira, a lot of times along the rocks, it will stop you a few feet so that you cant pick up anything

nah…you gotta take it in stride. Otherwise I’d be rage quitting constantly. I gotta keep cool cause I have a 4 year old running around my house. Got to set the example. :sunglasses: :muscle:t2:

Yeah, there’s something odd about the way it handles collisions between moving objects, textures, and terrain.

For example, Axton’s turret will clip through the stairs on the bridge where you have to fight the Handsome Dragon (just before Lair of Infinite Agony). I’ve seen it do the same thing on cliff walls, ramps, etc.

Or look at the way some of the “chests” in Battleborn are actually sunk through the surface texture.

Or watch your character’s animation when you get out of/off a vehicle in either BL2 or TPS eg jumping off a Stingray just outside the transition from Triton Flats back into Concordia (where the bounty board is) - you’ll frequently see your character go up to their knees into the moon dust before popping back up.

So basically, anything that has sufficient momentum seems to fall through the surface, and only gets adjusted once it stops moving. Characters get repositioned inside the map “box”, but other stuff can just be gone for good.

Moral of the story is: be very careful when phaselocking enemies, especially if you do so while they’re in the act of jumping!

It’s UE3 for BL2, TPS, and BB. Not sure to what extent it’s modified from the base engine, although I do know that GBX wrote a lot of development scripts to control work flow within the engine. (There’s an article about it somewhere.)

…I love how you toss it down in the Tina dlc in the dwarf area and with all that odd clipping your turret magically ends up about a mile away.

A little late reply here but after a good while you just learn where to not throw your stuff. Unfortunately usually the hard way. I don’t actually know any of the spots in TPS because I’ve never tossed something I planned on getting back but there are quite a few areas in BL2 where you just don’t do that anymore. I don’t care so much anymore. Very few items get my attention in a way that I feel it’s irreplacable and I never ever wanna lose it.

There’s one offender that drives me nuts though: Son of Mothrakk in BL2. Did anyone in the playtesting try shooting it dead even once? Seriously, the chance of getting any drop out of Mothrakk is probably lower than the chance on getting a specific drop out of Terra because it ALL DROPS TO OBLIVION 99,9 % OF THE TIME GODDAMNIT BABYRAGE REEEEEE!
